Up for sale is this hard to find 1960s LeCoultre Memovox alarm watch with the famed in-house bumper automatic JLC caliber K815 in Jumbo 37mm water resistant monocoque steel case. Most LeCoultre Memovox's of this period are found in gold-filled cases, as they were sold in the American market, and finding one in steel is quite uncommon. This example also comes on its scarce period original JB Champion "brick link" steel bracelet, which is pretty much unobtanium. Overall, this striking stainless steel Memovox is in Very Good+ to Excellent seemingly unpolished vintage condition with original dial, hands and alarm disc. It has also just been fully serviced by my watchmaker with all functions working as they should, including a nice loud, long & accurate alarm. It will come with a 6-month movement guarantee for all normal non-abusive use.

CASE & BACK: Large 43mm long x 37mm wide (not including crowns) x 12mm tall stainless monoblock case with elegant angled, tapered lugs. Case shows no apparent polish and I did not have my watchmaker polish it at service. There are some small marks from wear but no major dings --Excellent vintage condition. The external back shows its original spiral finish and all correct one-piece nomenclature of the period for what I believe to be the Star Watch Case Co. There are a few small scratches but is still Excellent externally and correctly marked for stainless steel. This is a dress watch that is substantial even by today's standards and has loads of wrist presence.
DIAL & HANDS: Lovely original silver dial with applied faceted white gold "wedge" markers and JL logo, luminous dots and inner rotating Memovox alarm turntable with correct luminous-filled arrow. The dial and disc, while displaying original factory printing, do have wear and scuffs, especially the alarm turntable, which has surface abrasions -- Very Good original vintage condition and definitely preferable to the omnipresent redials. Elegant bar-style luminous hands and baton sweep seconds are Excellent with some degradation of the luminous fill. While certainly not a perfect dial this LeCoultre Memovox looks beautiful on the wrist and has got loads of vintage style!
CROWNS: Both original American-style JL-signed crowns are present: at "4" for setting the time and at "2" for winding the alarm and setting the alarm disc. This is quite rare, as these crowns have often been replaced through the years with unsigned versions. Both crowns pull out to their function positions and operate as they should. They only show cosmetic wear and so are Excellent+.
CRYSTAL: High-domed acrylic crystal could well be original and has been freshly buffed at service and so has only the most minor marks from wear, easily Excellent to Near Mint.
MOVEMENT: Legendary JLC caliber K815 bumper automatic-winding movement with manual wind alarm function. The alarm disc is properly aligned and as one would expect from a JLC, the watch is keeping very good time and the alarm sounds accurately, loud and long. Being a monocoque one-piece case with front extraction of the movement I am unable to take pictures but all is guaranteed genuine. In addition as stated above, this classic and complicated bumper movement has just been fully serviced and will come with a 6-month guarantee for all normal, non-abusive use.
BRACELET: This great Memovox comes on a virtually impossible to find matching JB Champion brick link bracelet in super tight Excellent+ conditon. While the clasp is not signed it is almost certain that this bracelet was sold along with the watch when new here in the States, as JB Champion was a major supplier to the big Swiss watch brands of the era including Rolex & Omega, as well as JLC. The curved end links fit the 19mm lug width perfectly and at its longest this rare bracelet will fit about a 7 1/2" wrist.

This great Vintage LeCoultre Memovox is offered with a 3-day inspection period from the date of receipt and may be returned for a full refund (less any shipping costs incurred by the buyer).
