Having been to look at this last week at the Fellows viewing, it looked to be legit, so I set myself an upper cap (which it hit, but didn't go over) and have apparently won it!

To my eye, and having had it in hand, and had the back off, it's an original ST166.0250 that's had a service dial and hands fitted a long time ago.

The movement is a 1010, in the 41 million range (will order an extract)

And the case/crown/caseback are all evenly worn, and a little battered.

Hoping that the extract shows this as a legit (rather than built) "Baby ProPlof".

Regardless, you should not drink at all when buying watches

Oh man, I saw your post Matt, what a pain in the butt.

Fingers crossed there's not glue in this one.

    Cheers buddy. :D

How was the Fellows experience? What was the BP? Was everything described properly?

Congrats! Killer piece, love that thick case.

    Best,

    Thomas

I didn't go up to Birmingham, but bid online - the experience at the viewing day in London was very good, lots of time to handle the watches I wanted to see, and they were happy to open case backs.

    BP?

Described as accurately as they can without an archive extract I'd say - the pictures above are the ones from the listing.

Buyer's premium. Awesome, have heard/read negatives about a few houses and wanted to get your opinion on Fellows. They've always got a decent show.

Ahh. 24% as it was online.

The experience has been good so far. They take payment through Saleroom.com, and ship out fully insured and trackable as part of the service.

Even with the premium, I did alright on this one I think - the Speedmasters either side, and the £80K Daytonas took the heat off the little lots like this one. :)

    Hi tyrantlizardrex,

Looks like you knew exactly what you were getting before you bid on it and besides the service dial it looks like a great original example and the bezel looks to be in really good condition on this one that is now yours. I've had mine a little over 2 years although I was really lucky and managed to find an all original one, these are now getting really hard to find either all original or even built up with service dials and bezels and prices have really started to climb from checking both Chrono24 and E-Bay.

I managed to get an original Omega Isofrane for mine form WatchCo 2 years ago which was at a reasonable price but they now want an eye watering £290 for one, IMO these look best on the old style Omega seatbelt mesh bracelet here area few pics of mine.

When I first started looking for one of these, I read a couple of your posts for guidance @Dogmann - as I understand it the original dial for the 166.0250 was superceded by the 166.0251 as a service part quite shortly after production ended... and given how the lume is worn but even on the dial/hands, I'm left wondering if this was water logged, or just lost its glow in its early life and replaced at service.

It looks like they've been in that case longer than watchco have existed. ;)

Spot on with the pricing creep Marc.

There's an unserviced one out of Bulgaria on ebay at the moment - £2995 firm... and that has dial damage.

Will keep an eye out for reasonable mesh straps... the prices on those make my eyes water too.

    It's a 166.0250 not 166.025...
