    Hello all
I sent a watch in US it is currently stuck at the custom. Fedex sent me a form to fill but the last part is unclear :
    4. Value Break :
    - movement :
    - case :
    - battery :
    - strap :
I am not sure to understand what I need to put in.this part... Thé value of each item??? How can I evaluate the value of the case itself? The movement itself?
    Thanks for your help!

Case and movement are about equal in value and are the balance of the watch value...Strap is the balance.

I'd go 40/40/20 % of the declared value.

Thanks ! but the strap is homemade...
So can I just go to 50/50 between case and mouvement?

FedEx and the Customs Service are looking for the values of those components. Under the US tariff rules each of those components is taxed at a different rate. On watches that I have received from outside the US, the movement was valued at about 85% to 90% of the total value with the strap/bracelet splitting the remaining 15% to 20%.

Obviously, if the watch is a mechanical watch (manual wind or automatic) the battery = $0. Even if it's a quartz watch the battery would only be about $2.

Good luck with your division of the price.:)

Strap still has value so it needs to be assigned a % of the value.

Looking at past paperwork. Some Case and Movement are equal, some not. I'd go 60/30/10 - Movement/Case/Strap

Just my 2 cents, this form also delays inbound international shipment. FedEx procedure of handling this is low-tech, process takes several days if your are on top of it. It takes both FedEx phone customer service and email to complete one simple form. I wish this process was automated via onw online form. FedEx is also completely fine taking there time (no rush) in customs department, as its not covered by guarantee delivery.

You are 100% wrong. That form greatly accelerates the process.

Try using DHL without the form sometime...

The form does the exact opposite. It helps you. Fill it out the moment you ship.

They asked me to fill the form before March 8th. So I sent it back today, hopefully it will not be so delayed...

    I
OP issue in missing form. This also brings this to a core problem, additional form for shipping clocks/watches are not a requirement before package pick-up, like for customs form.

I would be wrong, if form was include in the shipment. OP is missing form from the start. You are 100% inadequate for not reading for post from the start.

Last shipment it was in the dammed envelope with all the paperwork and I needed to resend. I agree the form is a blessing and not a curse.

I read your post, and you are wrong. Both of these assertions:

"this form also delays inbound international shipment"

"FedEx procedure of handling this is low-tech"

are nonsense. Emailing a pdf copy of the form takes one minute.
