my 1st post!. My S/M, which is 19 years old, just returned from a service. New face, crown and stem and adjustment. I was glad to get it back but after a week, i noticed that it was running about 3-4 minutes fast in a week. This seems excessive as i paid over 1000 dollars and was w/o my watch for three months. I'm taking back to the AD to see what they can do. I can understand running slow but not fast. what causes this? thanks, marty
Hate it when this sort of thing happens after you've waited patiently, and looked forwards to getting it back. It could just be magnetised (can cause substantial and inconsistent fast running), or otherwise they did a c***p job of regulating it. Did you get a timing printout from the service company ?
is the Avatar sheriff on vacation? someone help me with the math, 3-4 minutes a week equates how many seconds/day?
Step 1 take careful notes over a few days of the accuracy that way you can speak intelligently to the AD Step 2 choose an avatar to keep the cops off your tail. If your watch was truly cleaned, oiled and adjusted, it is a simple fix. Probably an oversight on their part. Good luck.
I'm assuming it's a 2531.80 based on the age, which has a Cal 1120 that is COSC certified. It's either magnetized or needs to go back for additional service, cuz that ain't right. Either way, make sure it's fully wound and as mentioned keep track of the timekeeping so you can tell your AD.
Just get it regulated. They should do it for free. Or Throw it away. Just throw it away for ever because it will never be the same.
Before you send it away for another few weeks, consider picking up a battery powered demagnetiser. They are only about £8-10 from sellers on eBay and do the job. If it is magnetised you'll probably save time this way. I say get a battery powered one as the ones with plugs tend to come with a non-compatible plug and so batteries avoids this.
