    PLEASE NOTE:
When I first posted this Omega Speedmaster for sale, I was guided by prices that this vintage reference was making at the time, with an additional value for its attractive brown dial.

Even though the watch has a reliable history, an Omega extract and has had a top quality service, it has not sold. In the light of a reduction in market prices, I have recently asked for, and received frank advice on pricing from this forum. All were of the opinion that the price was too high.

I am inexperienced at the valuation of vintage Omega Speedmasters, but have decided that a significant reduction in price is required. In the light of the changing market, it's difficult to know exactly where this particular watch should be placed. However I am now not adding any additional value for it's brown dial, and am going to make a £1000 reduction in the asking price.

New asking price £8,950. (All offers will be respectfully considered)

    (SALES POST)
I would like to pass my beautiful 1960's Omega Speedmaster 105.012 on to somebody, who is better placed, to give this lovely old watch the care and attention it deserves.

    IMG_20190712_130613-1.jpg

    ABOUT THE WATCH:
    Omega Speedmaster Professional, 105.012-65
Original 321 calibre movement. Serial number: 24531482.
Omega Extract of the Archives showing a production date of January 6th 1967 and that the watch was delivered to Gibraltar.
Fully serviced and cleaned by Swiss Time Services UK in May 2017.
Tested and Regulated by Simon Freese Watchmakers in August 2019.

Original AML, stepped dial has, overtime, changed to an even shade of brown. Variable from a dark brown (in low artificial light) to a lighter brown (in sunlight). The patina on the plots compliments the brown dial. They glow in the dark, for a short time, as expected from a 50 year old tritium watch.

    Original 'dot over ninety' bezel.
    Original crystal bearing Omega symbol.
Original, low pushers with original wide tubes.
    Original sub-dials hands.
Original 105.012-65 case back & dust cover

Following a discussion with Simon Freese, as part of the 2017 STS service, the incorrect 1970's service crown and 1970's service (Hour/Minute/Chrono) hands set were removed. A genuine 1960's, vintage, 24 tooth crown was fitted, and new, reference correct (aged to match) hour, minute and drop end chrono hands were also fitted.
    (Refer to STS letter below).

(Note: The removed 1970's 32 tooth service crown and 1970's, tritium hand set form a significant part of the history of this watch. They are included in the sale along with the Speedmaster head.)

(The 1970's 1171/633 service bracelet, seen in most of the photographs, is not included in the sale.)

    IMG_20190712_125316-1-1.jpg

Double bevel, case back is stamped HF 105.012-65. The case back engravings show signs of wear, but then this Speedmaster has been no 'safe queen'. It was worn on a daily basis until 2003.

Has the case been re-polished? We've had it in our family for around 50 years. My, 2017, STS service instruction was to clean but not polish. The case lines are still sharp, but who can say for sure? Have a look at the photographs and let me know what you think.

    KNOWN HISTORY AND PROVENANCE:

My Father bought the watch some time between 1967 and 1970 and I have, original print, photographs of him wearing this watch over the years since.

2017 service papers from Swiss Time Services UK.

2019 Omega Extract of the archives certificate.

2019 Regulate and test receipt from Simon Freese Watchmakers.

    TERMS OF SALE & DELIVERY:
I am not a watch trader or collector and this is a 'one off' watch sale for me. I came to Omega Forums in 2016 as the enthusiastic owner of this vintage watch. I have no previous sales history on this forum and any knowledge I have of Omega Speedmasters I have learned from members of this forum.

So how do I make you feel better about that?

    A) I have been a member of Omega Forums since 2016 and UK members have met me and handled this watch at a couple of London 'Time4 a pint' meetings. (Attendance at those meetings required full photo ID containing full name and address).

    B) If non-UK buyers know a trusted UK forum member, and value there judgement. I would be willing to arrange to meet them so that they can evaluate the watch, 'in hand' and provide you with a report.

    C) In July 2019 a pre-sale check was carried out by Simon Freese Watchmakers. He also tested and regulated the movement. The last person to open, adjust and re-close this watch was Simon Freese.

    D) For the 2017 service and 2019 test and regulation, I delivered and collected the watch in person. This means that I am known to Swiss Time Services UK and Simon Freese Watchmakers UK. My full name, home address and contact details are on record at both of these reputable businesses.

PRICE: My further reduced price is stated below. If members have any thoughts on this watch, my valuation, or would like to make an offer, I would be interested to hear from you by private message.

    £8,950. (Including personal delivery)

PAYMENT: Direct payment into my UK bank account or by bank transfer.

DELIVERY: Face to face UK, and international delivery only. I would really prefer to avoid mail delivery. This is a special watch and I think it deserves personal delivery to it's new owner.

    RETURNS:
If you pay for the watch but have good reason to change your mind, PRIOR TO DELIVERY ARRANGEMENTS BEING MADE, I will refund your payment. The appeal of a 'brown dial' Omega Speedmaster is a personal thing, so please be sure that you really want this watch before we arrange delivery.

I would like to thank Omega Forums for this sales space and fellow forum members for the valuable advice on care and servicing, of this watch, that they have offered over the past three years.

    Thankyou.

    Jonathan.

Thankyou to those members who have shown interest and offered to purchase my Dad's old Omega Speedmaster.

Unfortunately being a complete and utter vintage watch sales novice,::shy:: I was so keen to get this Speedmaster up for sale on the 20th July, that I was unable to arrange appropriate payment transfer and delivery options in time.::shy::

My apologies to you for any inconvenience caused, but I really must make sure that this watch gets to it's new owner safely and in excellent condition. As soon as I arrange a payment and delivery process, (as advised by this forum) the watch will be available again.

As I mentioned in the sales post, (although serviced by STS UK in 2017) I will be taking the watch to Simon Freese Watchmakers, to be checked over and tested. Withdrawing it from sale temporarily, gives me the opportunity to get this done prior to it being offered for sale, again, on this forum.

I would like to thank the Omega Forum moderators (and to the, experienced, UK member who made time to speak me on the telephone) for their help and advice in this matter. Much appreciated and a demonstration that this Forum can serve to look after all of our best interests.

    Jonathan.

    Good morning Forum.

Right. It's time for me to re-activate this sales post.:)

Can one of you lovely chaps, please, tell me how I change the title from 'Withdrawn' to 'For Sale'?::shy::

Is this possible or do I need to create a new post?

    Many thanks.

    Jonathan.

Well....I've never been keen on 'the shameless bump'::shy::, and so I shall help it along with a £500 price reduction.

Right then! Nearly seven thousand views on this lovely old Omega Speedmaster and yet it hasn't managed to find a new home. I've been advised that the market has changed. That being the case, I've just made a 2nd price reduction. One thousand GB pounds lower than it's original listing.

Pricing of vintage Speedmasters is a tricky thing, you all know that I'm a novice at this game, and so I would welcome your comments by PM.:)

Even though you doubled your price...this is still the cheapest Speedmaster on the market!

Well, we have an interesting change in the vintage Omega Speedmaster market. I am offering a genuine family owned, example. While it is a wonderful watch with an attractive brown dial (as I state in the sales post) my old Speedmaster is no "safe queen". That being the case, I think it would be good to offer a further reduction.

    Price is now £11,250

New year price adjustment. £11,100. With a nice little shot in hand.:)
(By the way... that's a tiny hair on the glass above lower sub dial. It is not a scratch on the dial)

    New adjusted, Saturday night price.:)

As you all know, this is my first sale and I seem to have timed it nicely to coincide with an interesting dip in the vintage Omega Speedmaster market.

I've had more than 9,000 views of this lovely old, family owned, pre-moon Speedmaster, but only one recent offer. I would be happy to know what members think.
