Hey guys, this seamaster was handed down from my late grandfather. he bought it in his 30s. watch has not been worn for quite awhile now, but movement works nicely. just a couple of questions for vintage Omega experts out there.

    - what has caused the pitting issue on the dial? should be purely age? just wanted to find out, i'm not going to touch the dial obviously
    - the crown seems changed?
    - will the Omega heritage department entertain me with pulling out an extract for this? heck, does one even exist for such a common model?
    - anyone can share where would be good to get a period correct gold filled rice bracelet to pair this with? either branded omega or brandless is fine.

cheers folks and thanks in advance!

If that started life as a Connie, the dial, caseback, mid case, hands and movement have been changed!

Is this not a late 1940s/early 1950s model?

Looks late 1950s to me. 502 or 503 movement maybe?

The dial spot and bubbling are caused by moisture having entered the watch at some stage, either through the crown or caseback(most likely the crown), and creating humidity within the watch. Micro droplets have entered fissures in the dial and caused corrosion of the dial metal. My advice is to source a new crown and replace the case back gasket, and if it hasn't had a service for a while, consider investing in a clean and oil.

The dial has what we call 'patina' and it reflects the history of the watch. So I would choose not to have the dial seen to in any way, but try and arrest any further degradation by achieving better seals at the crown and caseback.

    Cheers

Beautiful. Personally, I would do nothing besides servicing.

That model of crown is fine for this watch.

    - Probably water/moisture damage, as mentioned above.

    - There's no harm in requesting an Extract. If Omega has no records, they will refund your payment.

    - Keep an eye on eBay for the bracelet - they turn up now and then. The OF sales forum also.
