·Hello fellow members,
Today I’d like to share a quick mini-review of a new piece in my collection.
This one is a reference 2992, and from what I’ve researched, this reference actually came in 4 batches: from 2992-1 up to 2992-4.
Based on my observations and discussions with Hoi (@hoipolloi), the 2992-1 and 2992-2 usually came with a large Seahorse logo on the caseback, while the 2992-3 and 2992-4 tend to have the smaller Seahorse logo. Interestingly, on the latter two versions, the word “Calendar” is missing underneath the word Seamaster.
That said, there are exceptions—I’ve personally come across at least two examples of 2992-3 that still had the large Seahorse logo.
As for the dial, this one is fairly uncommon. Some people call it the “pinstripe dial”, but here on the forum it’s more fittingly referred to as the “Regency Stripe” pattern (or sometimes “tapestry”). I actually reviewed a similar dial previously on reference 14381 (all steel case), which you can check out here:

(Feel free to take a look and maybe drop a like! 😄)
Now, my piece here is a 2992-4 with movement number 18,046,xxx, running on caliber 503 (20 jewels). The case is gold-capped, the crown is the original cloverleaf crown with flat feet logo, and the crystal is the correct Omega-signed version with date magnifier.
A closer view of the dial is shown below:
A Close-up shot of the fonts:
My research has identified only the same dial pattern in reference 2992, but it is housed in a steel case (see https://watchvintage.co.uk/products/1961-oversize-omega-seamaster-pinstripe-cal-503-ref-2992-4sc).
My Wrist shot:
Finally, the group photos alongside a few Constellations with the same dial pattern
In that group photo:
All of them are jumbo models, and seeing this dial pattern across them is something quite rare and exciting.
Thanks a lot for viewing, and I’d love to hear your thoughts or feedback!
Best,
Teerapat
