A local online seller has a ‘Gorgeous all original never polished 1999 Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch comes with box box but no papers previous owner serviced the watch 2 years ago’. We spoke on the phone about the watch and he off-handedly said the watch also came with a Snoopy caseback... Photos attached for your viewing pleasure.

Now, I’m sure the caseback is not authentic but I’m interested if you think the watch itself might be worth a closer look? The seller thought it was from 1999 but Omega stopped using Tritium in 1997. However, this could be transitional or the seller just got his dates wrong. I’ve asked him to take it his local OB for serial number verification (case, movement and bracelette).

Should I be asking any other questions?

Beauty shot and thanks for sharing ;)

As I said, I’m convinced it’s not a phantom snoopy (0000/5441) but I’m more curious if it can be an honest to goodness (I’m never using that lame phrase again, honest to goodness!) last tritium speedy?

Weird - the watch itself sure looks genuine, but that caseback, and I think the bracelet are not. The bracelet looks crude, and I can't see any numbers on the end links. Would be nice if he could give you a shot of the movement. Also why does the dial almost look like it has a step?

Pictures are so low-res it's hard to tell.

Get clear shots of the movement and inside the case back. If he won't or can't provide it I'd just move on, honest to goodness! ;)

Thanks gents. That is exactly what I’ve asked for: clear shots of watch, including mov’t, with serial numbers. We shall see, but I’m not filled with confidence.

On a separate note, if anyone has a line on a Speedy Pro from 1980 (birth year) please do keep me in mind. I’d start a thread on it but it that seems rather crass. And I have a pretty high tolerance to my own crassness.

Gracias! I asked for detailed photos and serial numbers. He’s been ghost like ever since... spooky.
