    Appears to be an original porcelain dial.

    In outstanding condition, I might add. Get a new crystal then gently clean the case and it's a winner.

    THANKS VERY MUCH GUYS FOR THE HELPFUL INFO AND YOIUR ADVICE ! HOW DO I CLEAN THE MOVEMENT ? WHAT STUFF DO I USE ON THE OUTER PLATES ( I DO NOT INTEND TO TAKE IT APART , JUST TO CLEAN THE OUTER PLATE SO THAT IT LOOKS NICE. ) ?

    Let a watchmaker do it as part of their service. You don't want to "clean" a bunch of dirt into the movement.

    ...... AND STOP YELLING AT US. ::bleh::

    Agree with Dennis, if you really want to try yourself, some "Rodico" putty used very carefully may make a difference.
    Personally I would find the cash and have it serviced, sure it would be worth the outlay.
