Was checking out eBay and I came across this doctored-up sub made to look like a Hulk. Look at the bezel, the circle is off centered in the triangle.

I've seen several like that listed for significantly less than market price. Do people really buy into a piece being real that's 8-10K below market?

Right? There are quite a few bids, but who knows they may be all fake. The description does say "custom" and "please be sure to read the product description". So that is the trick: take a regular sub, modify with an aftermarket green dial and cheap bezel that's not even symmetrical

I wonder how eBay would handle a situation like that?

I wouldn't buy any Rolex model with a stupid nickname anyways.

Are any of us surprised?

Wonder how this will pass eBay's new authentication procedure?

Any of these nicknames perk up your interest? Money is not an issue as you didn't say couldn't afford Rolex models with stupid nicknames.
1. Rolex GMT "Fat Lady" ref. 16760
2. Rolex Sub 5513 "Bart Simpson" (like this one regardless of the stupid nickname)
3. Rolex Daytona ref 6239 "Paul Newman"....disregard anything related to Paul is cool
4. Rolex Explorer 2 ref 1665 "Steve McQueen"... see #3
5. Rolex GMT "Batman" ref 116710B
6. Rolex Sub "Kermit" ref 16610LV... ok, stupid nickname, no argument there

My buddy bids on these. He wants a deal and relies on eBay and paypal's money back guarantees.

"Items specified as “Customized” are currently not eligible for authentication." 🙄

I like how they say "not eligible", when in fact it's an end-run around the process.

So, you did buy a few with "stupid" nicknames, but all great buys. I agree on 5 and 6... don't like. #3, I only wake up in a cold sweat because I sold one of mine back in the late 1990s... a white dial 6239, but also sold half of my apple stock too. Who knew? ( If you did know, don't let us know, it will only make janice&fred and I sweat even more.)

don't like. #3

Yea I didn't like the two we had back in the early 90's and sold them off in NYC. Now thanks to you and this subject matter I definitely won't be sleeping tonight!

Well in all fairness I bought these way before they had those nicknames 😁

Warm milk, a good bedtime story, and some sleeping pills should help
