    Hello guys,

I was wondering if you could give me your opinions on this Constellation 14902-62 SC ? From what I see it looks rather good but I don't know much about these connies so I prefer to gather some information on this.
Moreover I have the impressions that the indexes aren't all of the same length, even if it seems to be because of the crystal deformation ?

Lastly what would be a faire price for this ? I have the idea of acquiring a nice constellation for a long time, but I usually prefer the round lugs.

    Cheers !

The images don’t help but the case, whilst not ‘mint’ looks to be in fairly good condition barring the corrosion on the lip of the case back.
The dial has spotting but otherwise looks correct. (The odd looking indices are down to reflections from bad photography)
The crown is a correct replacement and there are signs of rotor rub.
The 19M 561 movement is the correct period.
The 5-row BOR is a bonus.

However, what concerns me is why there is a painted indices dial, which IIRC arrived around ‘68, in a 1962 watch.

Thank you! I actually had missed the corrosion, I thought it was dirt and old gasket residue.

I wasn't aware that painted indexes shouldn't be on watches prior to 68. Probably a legit watch with the dial changed for another one in better condition I guess.

I was specifically referring to dogleg Connies.
Up until the 24million serial numbers those with black inserts should be onyx.
You can recognise it by the depth of the insert and the ridge along the centre.

Thank you very much for the precision. I will pass on this one, but at least I learned something I didn't know

    Credit where it is due.
It’s @hoipolloi that has championed this cause.

I suspect that (like a lot of things with Omega) it’s not an exact science.
I seem to recall a not too distant thread with a dogleg pie pan in the 24M range having painted indices and all appeared correct.
So ‘early’ painted indices (ie in the 24m range) are likely to exist but should be uncommon.
However, when you see a 1962 Connie with painted indices something is patently wrong.
