Fagiolino

This title gets attached to some Medicus watches, I have also come across it used on other top end watches. I have googled it, and searched my watch publications but have not found why it is attached to certain watches. I was expecting to find it to be the name of a designer, as in Farina the car designer, but the best meanings I can come up with are " A green bean" " A boys name in Italy" " A name given to an unborn child"

Can anyone throw light on it please? One day I will own a Medicus Fagiolino and it seems essential to know why it is called that, I understand the Medicus part

Fagiolino? Nice name. Meaning? Maybe nothing. Italian Rolex dealers give names to watches to increase the price in suggesting, it is something very special....." Fat Lady " is one of them.....( Wide lugs...) all sorts of BS is going on to make money. Kind regards. Achim

I can state that in Italy "fagiolino" is just a green bean and nothing else. No watch, let alone a Medicus, is called by this name.

the world is big, everything is beautiful, it all depends on which watch you are looking for in Italy. Best regards

I thought it meant any type of bean, could be baked.

Yes, in fact, I recall a dealer in Italy designated a particular Rolex an “Oval Tony,” named after this gent:

I'm serious now, I felt like laughing green bean. on this I agree with you the Italian retailers invent names to increase the value. it's not nice to invent names. but I have noticed that every nation is the same as another, it just takes a lot of luck in life. and this I would love that everyone has it.

As the seller of the watch linked above, I understand FAGIOLINO as the other user stated means green bean in Italian and has been used as perhaps an affectionate nickname for this particular reference ck2015 due to the unusual shape of the lugs.

I do not know whether I would agree that the lugs look like green beans but that is what I have learnt through my research 😀

These are "fagiolini" also called "cornetti"

Fagiolino is also the name of a puppet (on the right)

But no Italian collector has ever called a watch that way

If you google “omega fagiolino” half a dozen other examples of this same reference ck2015 appear.

Perhaps it wasn’t an Italian dealer who created this name but it certainly was created by someone.

I found the explanation, and added in the watch that was on this forum recently. So even the best can have a silly nickname
