Hi guys A Rare & Damn Sexy Omega "Dato" Vintage 1970 Watch! Calibre 930 (17 Jewel Chronograph 861 family deritive same as "bulls head") Watch Ref. 146.017 Monoblock Hermetic Case With Screw-down Case Back & "Pump" Pushers ALL ORIGINAL Rare steel Variant in near MINT condition Throughout! Omega strap, with Omega Buckle and a handmade strap vintage look. Recently serviced. Integrating a date window into a chronograph is no small challenge, as it often throws off the whole balance of the dial. Heuer offered some interesting solutions with the Carrera "Dato" reference 3147, first offering a date at 12 o'clock, and later at 9 o'clock. Their later iteration took out the left register to make a clean spot for the date window, while this Omega combined both – quite successfully I would argue. This Omega reference 146.017 houses the caliber 930, also used in the visually striking Bullhead that Omega still offers to this day. This Particular example in absolutely brilliant condition. The dial is trully MINT, not a lume dot has been touched not a hand tarnished not a date wheel changed in all original EXCELLENT condition Case bears some age related marks this is for the most part "Patina" and stands less as a detrimental and more as a testament to the watches true UNPOLISHED (or very very light) and all original condition. Some photos speak better than 1000 words... But the watch is much better live! request is 3990 (euros) but offers are welcome. reduced to 2900 euros thanks for your visit.
It's not for me to rate is as I'm not selling it. A watch with age related discolouration and spotting obviously cannot be mint though.
but you're telling us your opinion too... even you're not selling it. (that's not a problem for me: I'm open to remarks) I would tell you what means MINT to me "Mint" isn't regardless the age. Mint about a 2018 watch is = NIB and never used. Mint about a 50 y.o. watch is something else... A vintage watch with a nice patina could'nt be rate as MINT? under my (un)humble opinion : definitely yes. And that's pretty the case. I would say: live is it much better...
So what do you call a 50 year old watch that genuinely is mint, if you're also using 'mint' to describe heavily patina'd dials? In my opinion your dial is in average to good original condition with age related discolouration and spotting.
@alam that's correct. this was the sense of my answare. @Davidt if you rate that "average to good" you would rate "rubbish" the most vintage watches selling here... I'm not saying you're wrong: it's just your opinion.
Dont assume to know how I would rate other watches for sale here. Most in the private sales forum are in above average condition or better. Those in average or below average condition are usually described as such. Yours is a nice watch overall, but the dial is only average. I have no interest in this sale other than I don't want a noob to buy it thinking they are getting a mint dial as per your description.
