··LemaniacOK, so here it goes:
I am putting up for sale one of the gems of my collection. A Omega Memomatic cal 980 with a very rare case and in immaculate condition.
Desmond (Omega forum user mondodec) have written a fantastic essay on these watches here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/q5zjoyznxgj/Omega Seamaster Memomatic Watch.pdf
The watch I am selling has the case described on pages 6 and 7 as the extremely rare "second generation" 166.072.
My watch has this case after a full "spa" treatment as documented by the included receipt from Omega Bienne. The watch was fully rebuilt by Omega back in 2009 and as a part of this rebuild it received a new case (complete), this being of the extremely rare "second generation" 166.072.
The watch comes just as it was delivered by Omega Bienne back in 2009.
It has been worn carefully on 4-5 occasions since, and has no marks or dents of any kind except the lightest of hairlines. Except for the very few and selected "airing times" it has been sitting in my collection since I acquired it some years ago.
The starburst finish is perfect. The rear lid has the Seamaster logo perfectly displayed, and the hands, plexi and dial are immaculate.
It comes in the Omega service case, with the original Omega strap/signed buckle as listed on the included receipt.
I rate the watch to at least 95/100. It is not NOS, but as close as you will get.
My timegrapher shows an amplitude of 312deg, with a bear error of 0.1ms and +9sec/day deviation.
All functions are 100%.
Please see included photos and do not hesitate to contact me for more details or photos.
I accept PayPal and will ship insured at buyers cost after cleared payment. Offers are welcome. Shipment within the EU may be arranged. I am located in Norway.
I reserve the rights to reject offers from regions of the world were shipment services may not be trusted.
I will start this one up at EUR €2900., or best reasonable offer.
I don´t think they get much nicer or rarer than this one!?
