Extremely fine Omega officer wrist watch 1916 Caliber 13" Omega make the first wrist watch in 1900. Was for British military officers, and use the caliber 12" ( 26,5mm x 4,2 mm women pocket watch caliber) During the produce of this rare wrist watch, Omega make more famous his brand with these three highlight: 1917 - The British Royal Air Army chose Omega as their appointed wristwatch supplier. 1918 - The American Army also chose Omega as their appointed wristwatch as well. 1919 - Omega first won the Observatory Competition in Neuchatel. This Omega officer watch is powered by caliber 13" ( 28,9 mm x 4,5 mm ) serial number 5000xxx, produced in the early 1916, was the biggest caliber that Omega use for trench watches, gives this watch a uncommon over size case of 35,40 mm wide, excluding the winding crown, that's really a big size case considering that year. (till 1940 Omega caliber 30 T1, caliber 13" was the biggest wrist watch movement) I know that most of the time, sellers say that the condition is mint, and when you take a close look of the watch, many details can be seen with good macro pictures. In this case, this Omega watch is really in mint / new condition. The enamel porcelain dial is without absolutely no hair lines, cracks or discoloring, is like new, the Roman numerals are specially unusual for this model of watches (usually big Arabic numerals). The Breguet hands are also uncommon for Omega trench watches, more common in Omega 1915 chronographs wrist watches , and Omega cushion case models. The watch has a perfect; without scratches, domed cristal glass, is not plexi. The case close with two covers (hinges and covers close perfect with the correct gentile pressure ) no dents, or cracks, all according to the rest of the watch. For many reason I think that this watch was for long time saved in a commode drawer, this is the only reasonable explanation for the general outstanding condition. The 13" SB Omega movement; was one week ago serviced and lubricated, according to my watchmaker who take a careful look to the screws and fasteners, has practically no signs of been manipulated , accuracy is incredible fine adjusted. Watch come with a NOS trench black leather watch strap, and original copper color mushrooms winding crown. Watch was sold by Jewerly Servan in Bordeaux, France, between 1916 and 1921 according the inscription of the Jewerly in the outside of the inner cover. For serious collectors, for trench watch lovers, by the the condition of the watch, I believe this will be the last sale of this remarkable watch, is hard to find a complete original Omega military watch, and even more hard in this condition.
