I introduced a 145.022 a while ago which had a steped dial, a 71 caseback and a serial number that started with 3285.... which according to the all known serial number tables available in the net should date it to the beginning of the 70ties. When i received the extract of records i was quite surprised. It was produced Jan 75... somebody must have digged very deep to find those parts Moreover i find also very interesting that they still delivered it with a 1039 I would have expected a 1171 in 1975.
Reminds me of that Chinese meat supplier that was recently caught mixing old meat into the mince they then sold to KFC / Maccas

Do you know these fcuckers will most likely receive the death penalty and it will be carried out with a quickness? And, it still doesn't deter them. Ugh. Punishment was the same during the middle ages in England and parts of modern day France for bakers. That's why we have "bakers dozens". Most bakers didn't want to chance selling under weight from a surprise Sheriff inspection so they'd throw an extra loaf in the bread sack just to be safe.
We had quite the same problems here in Germany too, they mixed Horse meat in a lot of microwave food! yummy
Sulaco: i recently had an "opposite" experience. Purchased a Polerouter Super off a retired fire Marshall / inspector from upstate New York. This watch was purchased brand new on Dec 29, 1975 from a dealer in New Orleans, LA. UG stopped production of the Polerouter Super in 1968! Talk about long inventory cycles...lol watch comes with a funny story: New Orleans is an infamously crooked town so the state of Louisiana would have outside inspectors from different parts of the country for various functions like say...Fire Marshals. The guy from whom I purchased this watch told me that he received it as a "Christmas gift" from some local builder (the name of the buyer on the receipt is "Paid in Cash"). When my seller told the county Commissioner about his "gift", he was told not to worry about it with a..."boy, see that's how things are done around here".
Thats a great story, really like it. Bribing really is international ;-) But dont confuse Production date with sales date ;-) Thats what i found confusing, makes me think that this watch was put together in the 71 and didnt leave the factory before 75
Speedmaster movements were produced by Lemania, not Omega and ran on a slightly different serial number cycle. You can see the comparison here: http://ialreadyhaveawatch.com/watch-articles/omega/omega-serial-numbers-by-year/ Based on this table, the high 32 million number would place the production date in late 1974. Allow a little time for casing and shipment, and January 1975 looks spot on to me. gatorcpa
I don't think I've seen too many extracts that actually state the bracelet on them. Very cool that it also includes the end links reference too. Out of interest is there a date stamp on the clasp of the 1039? Ian
The came without a bracelet, i had this one lying around at the moment but it has no date stamp on it.
Could have been made in 1971, and was sitting in inventory. Could have been a replacement. You'll never know for sure. gatorcpa
