Explorer 114270 on a budget?

Hello all,
For a long time I have been wanting to buy a neo vintage Explorer, and I think a 114.270 is my ideal model.
My budget is on the low low side, so I will hunt for "bargains", although that is dangerous territory, I know!
But my thinking is that almost any 114.270 I end up buying, I would like my local and trusted watchmaker to have a look at it and service it - so I might as well aim low.
Does that make sense?
I spotted this one on Chrono24 (more photos in the link), and think this is a possible candidate.

Perhaps I can get it down to 3700-4000€?
Do you spot anything horribly off with it?
Is it polished to death?

I will ask for more and better photos.

That bracelet is extremely stretched, seeing a bit of that on Rolex models of that era isn't abnormal but that's so severe that the bracelet is nearly worthless at this point so I'd be considering it a head-only watch effectively at this point. That's probably a big part of why its so cheap as the replacement from Rolex is likely to be well over a grand and only come with a full service from them too.

Yes, it is difficult to try to snag a bargain bin version of this watch because parts will be expensive. With a bracelet that stretched out you can count on their might be other issues as well such as a chipped crystal, etc..but if you land a price that’s really cheap it may be worthwhile to you. That price on it now is what you can grab a really nice example for these days.

It doesn’t tend to really be tightness, it’s more that the bracelet gets filthy with grime, sweat, salt, and cigarette ash and over time the links flexing constantly due to it being a bit loose grinds the metal pins and holes down, causing it to stretch out.

Cigarette ash in particular I find is one of the worst offenders, most people hold the cig in the left hand where the watch is worn, the residue is corrosive to steel and acts like a grinding paste in addition to stinking. Smokers need to clean their watch more often or it builds up and causes damage.

With a bit of patience you can get a decent 114270 for around £4300-4500 in the UK. That’s the better option unless you’re going to wear it on a strap

Yes, that is I the way to go👍
Bracelet is a must, so I will keep searching for a nice example in the EU, for tax reasons .

Unless you’re a dealer in which case you price it at the top of the market even when it’s overpolished to hell!
