    Hello All,

We recently picked up a CK2913-6 and I was looking for some expert eyes to help with the evaluation. I know the bezel is no good, but what do you think about the hands (specifically, being a -6 and not an earlier example). It's a 16mil serial, which should bring it to around 1958. Thanks for your help!

    Shane

I have a 2913-6 with a similar serial (either higher 15M or 16M, I can't remember right now) but it has the arrow minute hand, which I believe was original to it.

Thank you. I really wish there were more resources on these old 2913s (and 2914s!). Is it crazy to think that broad arrows can be found on just about any 2913 given the short production span?

    Try this link:

According to the link above, 2913-1 to 4 had the broad arrow hands and 2913-5 to 8 had the later 14755 type hands. Based on this, yours would appear to have an earlier set of hands fitted. Looks damn nice though. Someone on the forum mentioned they had a spare set of original 14755 hands back in January.................

well, as I wrote in the above link , the -1, 2 and 3 had the BA hands. From the 2913-3 reference both BA and the later set with arrow minute hand could be correct. I have seen BA hands on correct -6's also, but not that many. The later type was much more often found on the -4 to -6 than the BA ones. It's only on the -7 and -8 that I wouldn't expect to see BA hands at all.

The production span was not that short at all, in fact from very late 1957 to mid 1961!
But almost all 2913's have serial 16x, so to more certain, I would need the first five digits in the serial and also whether it's a cal 500 or cal 501. The US versions differ a bit.

Thank you very much for the reply -- this is helpful. I'm not at the office, but I believe it was a 16.7m serial. I'll confirm that on Monday. It's definitely a Cal 501. And just to add a bit more color, the gentleman who sold it to us has had it for about 20 years and hasn't changed anything. He told me the man he sourced it from was either the original owner, or had it for a very long time. It's obviously possible the first/second owner had them changed, but logic tells me that doesn't make as much sense considering these watches have become highly collectible only in the last 5 years (in terms of value).

To be clear, I'm not looking for that single person to tell me it's kosher against every other opinion that it's not, I'm really just looking for more info. IMO, the BAs with a lolli second hand that match the markers make the watch more valuable regardless, but the more "correct" it is, that's obviously exciting.
