    Hi
I bought my wife this watch a few years ago. It works well. But, I need some help in working out the markings inside the case. I know that the case is 18K gold but want to know what all the other numbers mean. There are even some hand-scratched numbers in there too - you can just about make them out in the pics. I have also added pics of the Calibre 213 movement and the serial number. This is not the same number in the case so I suspect that the two parts have been brought together at some point. Any and all help appreciated.

First off, the watch movement serial is not shown on the case. The case just carries the model number and the case serial number assigned by the case manufacturer.

The "lady's head" stamp is of Helvetia, the female national personification of Switzerland and is the Swiss hallmark for 18k gold.

The box stamp is the Poinçon de Maître (Master Punch) of a hammer head or "Marteau sans manche" (Hammer without a handle), which denotes a gold watch case made in Switzerland but not in Geneva.

The 207 in the stamp directs to A. J. Niestlé, a company registered in Peseux, Neuchâtel, Switzerland. The company was deregistered in 1974.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers

    Jim

And the small hand scratched marks are from watchmakers noting service over the life of the watch...

Watch dates from early 1950's based on serial numbers of both movement and case.

These are not supposed to match on Omegas, by the way.
