Exotic Blue Nina at Phillips

In general, I think many (including myself) prefer this dial variation to the other "Exotic" Nina (silver / dark blue), and the market is accordingly different for the two. The example at Phillips had a very strong result despite the replacement crown and bezel, though I didn't find it to be a shocking result and I would expect a sizable gap between the two exotic models in private sales as well. Just my two cents.

It's a beauty for sure! I just picked up a blue one myself and from the looks of it, it does have the correct bezel. I'll post some pics in another post later.

There is still a small office in geneva. They don't have spares but I know that the recently produced new bezels. Cost about 2k usd.

Didn't knew that but i find it odd that they start producing bezels for a relatevely rare reference, wich demand i presume is low and they don't produce (at least with public awareness) parts much more soughted after: Polerouter crowns, 40´s chronographs hands, buckles with logo...

But wouldn't be the first time that UG took strange decisions...

Crown, Bezel, no bracelet are all valid points. What I think is a little out are the register hands, they are mis-matched ! not my cuppa the that price ...

I am told these bezels aren't reproduced by ug . It's the Italian counterfeit crew

I would love to know definitively . But they appear easy to spot

E-mail received this morning from UG

"Dear Sir,

Thank you for your email and inquiry regarding Universal Genève.

Yes Universal Genève has manufactured a second generation MK2 tachymeter
bezel for the model Compax 885107 in blue and in black for the model Compax
885103-1 and 885103-2

However the blue tachymeter bezel MK2 is already exhausted in our stock.

For the moment, we don't have project to manufacture other spare parts for
vintage UG model.

Thank you again and best regards,

UNIVERSAL GENEVE SA

No way!!! This email reads as though the modern UG recently went out and 'made' these parts especially. How bizarre. Finding NOS down a sofa somewhere is one thing......but apparently retooling brand new parts for vintage models is quite another.

Looks like it's becoming a thing.. with Omega recreating the 321, or Aston Martin the DB5, why not..? If you own the brand, all of a sudden it's not counterfeiting, but creating neo-vintage ::facepalm1::

and don’t forget TAG Heuer have made modern replicas of many of their bezels in the past year or so, inc screw back case, compressor etc. Other parts too I understand inc some dials...you can tell by the underneath of the bezels and the lume on the dials is machine plotted. All of these manufacturers take advantage of the vintage game to some degree, and of course offer a service to the customer of differing degrees..😉

The hands on the sub regs appear on several of these blue exotics, (actually the most common sub reg style on the blue followed by the V3 thick block style) nothing wrong with them imo, just a different version. They normally have one or two of the hands “peaked” at the ends and the rest squared off). The one style of sub reg hands i’d not expect would be the thin stick style V1 hands from the Mk1 Nina/Evil.

The bezels are indeed odd, 2000chf for a modern version with no È and a metallic shade of blue that differs from either of the originals...

Just out of mild curiosity does that bezel dimension match a Speedy?

I believe it is very similar to the speedy reduced bezel. Will need some work to make the press fit work, but the aesthetic dimensions are very close.
