Hi all, Looking at this black dial evil nina. Are these worth much less than the white dialed panda variant? Also, on this one parts of bezel have been repainted. Such as between 65-70, 120-130, and 225-250. Does this diminish value significantly. Thanks for any input!
Ninas are worth more than the evil sister these days! I think the bezel is more like personal preference, it only matter if you mind how it has been repainted. Otherwise it won't reduced its value significantly. Seller is a good guy btw
Look pretty good. Dial, hands, lume dots, chromo hand lume, etc all looking nice. Yes, wish the owner had left the scruffs on bezel alone. But if it speaks to you, go for it.
If it doesn't have it, this could even be the rarest of all. Anyway, with all these details, no way the dial is a redial or fake.
Ifit is hidden, it is very well hidden ... here is an image of my spare dial ...(transitional evil nina dial) 22806-1 with applied batons and logo ... I should be able to see that U !
I know nothing about Universal Geneve, and certainly not this model. Since you guys know a lot more than I do wonder if you would share some info about the watch. What am I looking at? This looks like a Speedmaster but with universal Geneve dial. Is that true? It looks like an Ed White case, with no crown guard and skinny pushers. However the straight lugs have been replaced with twisted ones. The layout of the subdials implies that there may be a 321 movement inside. Is that right? That looks like a DON bezel too. What's going on here?
Could be ... i would address the question to the Gods ... (lous and Jordn) with an offering (slaughter a lamb on a UG clock or something) and see what comes back ...
Google for 881101 Universal Geneve or Nina universal Geneve. You will find more info. Btw DON is not invented and made exclusive to Omega. They were made by bezel maker (can't remb the name now) and used by many brands. Twisted lugs were not invented by Omega too. Not exclusive to Omega. The Breitling Superocean made in 1958 were already spotting the twisted lugs. Have fun reading
I believe I should be competent enough to read the details though I'm far from a God and need no sacrifice. Lol.
Agree. All thanks to them, we got our "compax" layout for chronographs. So, what's with Omega? Copying the layout from UG? ;-p
As suggested read up on UG. When you first meet a nice example from this brand ( for me it was a 40's Tri Compax dress watch ) you will understand that this company was a vertically integrated, creative, affordable haute horology manufacturer. I now own four and the Sala book. Yes Nina looks like an old sport chrono at first I had that view as well. ( I own a 2998 speedy and several other brands) All that changed a few weeks ago when I had a chance to handle a few nice examples of 50's 60s Tri Compax. I really understand now why they are so sought after. The build and finish quality is amazing.
Thanks for the links. I read the Fratello one so far. I do like the look of it. I think the author got it right when he said "the hands look almost too big." Almost but not quite; they look good.
