For 100k you'd think they'd take care of the chrono creep for ya... I know many want to bring it to their watchmaker but still...
it would appear the train is riding, but not many people are jumping on it (its $100k ferchrissakes)...
Don't need many people to keep the train going. There will never be a lot of people willing to spend 100k on a watch but I suspect there will be enough for EWC and spacefruit to get close to their ask (for what I consider two very nice examples). Is an early 2998 any less of a watch than a Rolex PN Daytona? Time will tell.
Absolutely no bad vibes meant toward any honorouble members at all ... and fully agreed context : most of us are mere mortals ... and we are legion. The pantheon of the gods not ... To me it is so much more......
Very nice watch, the price is what it is, but then again these are rare watches, and they have been skyrocketing, so the momentum is strong...
Never been a fan of EWC. Here'sPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network a 78 they have on eBay for which they seek $14k.
When did you see a 2998 look this good? The only scar in this watch is the bezel and that is because no one has figured out how to restore them. This watch has been redialed, reverything.
True. you could buy an original bezel for a rare rolex paul newman......... crazy. kind regards. achim
I'd dare say those that are selling for $100K paid nowhere near that, but that their payday has arrived. Question is whether those that spend $100K will ever see a payday?
It's an interesting question to think about and we all wish we had that crystal ball. Do you think some collectors buy without necessarily having a view to re-sell at a later date?
Most definately. I'm not suggesting that the reason they bought was for a profit. They most probably bought because they liked to collect and fortuitously prices have risen. Hell, even I have benefited from this buoyant market and I've never owned a vintage Speedmaster. I was just musing on sustainability.
