Just picked up my first Omega on eBay. It's a solid gold 14k case, 485 movement and a non-original gold band. After looking up the serial it seems it was made in 1972 but couldn't find any face designs similar to the one the watch comes with. I have limited info as I just bought it and waiting for it to arrive. Any help in identifying the edition or the rarity of such a watch would be of good help.

Welcome A&O to the forum. I have not seen such a dial before on an Omega. Others migt be more knowlegable on this. From what I found out on the cal 485, this seemed to be used mainly in lady's watches. Is that the case here too? Both the 'Ts' next to Swiss imply the use of tritium, but there does not seem to be any of that stuff on hands nor hour markers as far as the pics show. Have you got more info?

Yeah I know the 485 is mostly used in ladies but this watch is unisex. Unfortunately I have no other info till I receive the watch. It does seem to be a very interesting and rare face though don't you think? Picked it up for a steal of a deal too.

I'm curious to know how you know it's solid gold.

It's stamped on the back. 14k and I looked up the model number on the Omega site and it said the case is solid gold.

Regardless of what the seller may have said this is a ladies watch, probably around 20-mm max.

Which seems fully consistent with the dial. Anyone ever seen this before on a factory piece with this font in white and lack of tritium?

AA5859. It came with a leather lizard band originally. It at least looks unisex to me. I mean I'm going to wear it, it looks really good.

Right, correct. I mistook a flaw for the vertical part of the T. Thxs!

Some more pictures. I think it is a legit Omega, any idea what the value of this would be? It seems to be very rare.

Personally, I do not know much of these lady's watches. Seems that this one was made for/on the US-market. On eBay, the prices range from EUR 50 upwards. In general, on this forum people tend not to be interested. Most of the time I read: value of the gold, and since it is a tiny watch, ..... BTW: the band seems to be gilded rather than solid gold, but that is just my 2c for it.

The band is not solid gold the case is. And $50 euro? Ive never seen this face before and can't find any pictures, thought that's what derives most the value from a vintage watch?

Yes the spring bars having greater diameter than the lugs is the key giveaway here ;)

I'm beginning to regret this purchase. Seems I will be reselling. This is what happens when you're a newbie lol. Any ideas what I could fetch on US markets?

It´s not quite so clear cut as that. A known and collected reference with an unusual or interesting dial will carry a premium for sure, but as yours appears to be an uncollected ladies reference in a small size the fact that it has an uncommon dial doesn´t really make it more valuable than the same uncollected ladies reference with a plain dial. As has been said these are not expensive to buy and the hard fact here is that the value of them is for the most part in the gold case.

Thanks. I'll figure something out. Maybe I can send it back since its not unisex as stated. I guess I'll check on here before buying a watch I can't identify.

Is it possible, to show the pictures undistorted? Somehow they are stretched in some way..
