Some words about this watch: I got it from a Bar...or more precise, from a friend of a friend I got to know in a Bar in Berlin. This is the short version of the Story. He had the Kontiki in his drawer for roughly 10-15 years and bought it about 20+ years ago from his friend ( this friend might not be known outside of Germany but surely in Germany, Frank Jürgen „Eff Jott“ Krüger was the initial owner, he was founding member and musician of „Ideal“ from 1980 to 1983. You probably know their song „Berlin“ if you spend time in Germany during the early 80‘s. I tried to figure out what I can ask for it which wasn’t easy. Considering the condition and the missing bezel, 1200 Euros might be a fair starting point, I will gladly accept offers This is a 2nd generation Eterna Super-Kontiki build between 1963-66, serial 5133416 is dating it to 1966. There is a great articel on the History of the Super-Kontiki here: https://www.veblenist.com/magazine/eterna-super-kontiki-1960-1971 Condition of the watch: The bezel is missing and was replaced with a fitting Metal-Ring. I’ve seen a generic bezel/insert turned by The Watchguy for a Super-Kontiki, so this mitght be a way to go if you don’t own/find one. All other parts are orignial to the watch. Case/Caseback: - Beveled lugs, case width is 40mm without crown, signs of wear but beautiful sharp egdes and lines. Obviously never..need to say it..polished - Caseback with some amateur opening marks, sharp Kontiki-Emblem, serial clearly readable. Inside Caseback: has a watchmaker mark, Reference 130PTX / 3 clearly visible Dial/Hands/Crown: Original Black glossy dial with some marks, Tritium-markers turned brownish, original Hour/Minute hands have lost lume, second hand has not. Crown is Eterna-signed, hermetic type, not screw-down Movement: Eterna 1424UD Movement, not running, looks like the mainspring is broken. Rotor is turning fine, Date sets, movement looks good overall and was serviced like 12 years ago, but he couldn’t tell it exactly anymore. Questions in case I let something out are welcome. This is a beautiful piece with history someone should take care of and bring it back to life. Thanks OF for the space.
