Hello there guys! I'm pretty new to this forum and just recently something got into me. A taste for Eterna vintage watches just developed while exploring this forum and admiring some of the timepieces showed on some threads. That's why I think it's about time I indulge myself with one of these two I already put my eye on. So without further ado from this two which one do you guys think is worth a buy? Thank you in advance! This is the first one, as you all can see it's an Eterna Matic 3000 with a goldcap. The asking price is $285 USD
And this is the second one. It only says Eterna Matic so there's no way for me to know the model exactly but what I really like about this one is the dial, I don't even know how to describe it to look it up on Google and find some similar designs. It kinda reminds me of a Longines Guilloche dial swirl. I know the case is badly worn, a shame really but I can give it a pass. The asking price is $200 USD.
I don't like the case on either of those. If I had to buy one, I think the first would be my choice because it's thinner and has a better dial.
You might also want to check out the Private Watch Sales forum. A handful of very nice Eternas are available for sale there.
Have you come across this site yet? Lots of interesting information and photos, and if you scroll to the bottom of the 'Fur Uhrmacher' sections, there's a useful (but well hidden) list of serial numbers by year.
Well the problem I have is that I'm from México and the shipping fees almost always doubles the price of anything. That's why I'm limited to my local market, I'm willing to give it a try but yeah international shippings are just a headache, they take close to four or six months to arrive (if you're lucky) and sometimes they don't even make it to destination (it is well known that some of the delivery guys steal your package). I'll sure take a look at the site. Thank you
Damn! you've got some gorgeous pieces. It makes me want one real bad, let's hope the one I get lives up to expectations.
if you shift your price point up to about 400 you'll get a better selection (if you can). then just wait. you'll be happier for buying a better example than either of these.
Awesome brand and a cheaper alternative to many high profile pieces, especially now that vintage is on the rise. Got two examples, one closer to dressy (not a fan of the hidden crown, but loving the dial) and a tuning fork diver that developed an interesting dial patina (quite common with this model).
I agree wholeheartedly that this is a great brand and an excellent and underrated value. Once you hold one in your hands, you will immediately notice the high quality. You can afford to be patient and wait for a better example. Wearing my Super Kontiki today.
I owned an Eterna Matic, Centenaire 61 which was a graduation present from my uncle in the 60's. I've had it completely restored a month ago & can't wait to see and have it back after the restoration.
I’m new to this forum but I am trying to find information on this Eterna-matic watch. Anyone know the year or case manufacturer? I think it’s a women’s but it’s kinda big for a women’s wristwatch. It’s also 14k. I’ve searched for hours and can’t find anything….
Is it yours or are you thinking of buying it? It seems a small watch, and the broad bezel will make it wear even smaller - which is fine if that’s what you’re after. Feel free to start a new thread next time, and tell us more about what you know about the watch.
Actually, you might get a better response if you: 1. Start a new thread, 2. Tell us a bit about yourself, and 3. Tell us a bit more about the watch and what you’ve found out about it from the seller or your research. That apart, welcome to OF
