As far as I can tell, this is a rare one. I certainly have not come across another one. That being said, although I appreciate vintage Eterna for their styling and their history, I certainly don't qualify as an expert and appreciate input from any experts out there who are more familiar with this reference. Pictures..... The white area near the bottom of each picture is from the light source - you can see that it moves a bit from picture to picture. Included this Black & White just because it looks so good! The Leather Strap and Buckle it came on when I purchased it. strap has lots of life left Here's a picture of the Dial without the weird white stripe I mentioned above
You don’t see these that often, I would call these neo-vintage as I think they were early 90’s if I recall. Some fabulous stuff from that era that flies under the radar- this being one of them.
How about a few more pictures..... pushed the top pusher and let the sweep hand run for 15 seconds pushed the top pusher to stop it, and the bottom pusher to reset it good look at the crystal ( black and white ) ps: is there a way of telling if the crystal is glass or plexiglass or something else? somebody asked and I can't find the answer online?
Looks like plexi from the dome. Don’t think they were doing double dome sapphire at this time Also, fingernail tap will sound like plastic as opposed to glass and a little push you will see plexi deflect and sapphire won’t
In my experience, putting water on the "glass" gives me some answers. If the water slides across, then it should be glass. If it stays put in the centre, then it should be plexi.
Yet another test. Touch the crystal to your face. If it's sapphire, then it will be cold. If you have an acrylic crystal to compare with, it'll be transparent. (Yuck, yuck.) The acrylic is warmer.
