My watch has an ETA 2852. It does not have a quickset feature. I have to set the date by moving the hands. I stupidly set the day 2 days ahead. Can I move backwards without harm to the 40+ Year old movement or should I let it die and wait 2 days?
As per this source http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&0&2uswk&ETA_2852 your movement should have a quickset function. But it is also mentioned that "manual versions often with wrong calibre signature". Did you consider to bring the hour hand in the region around 6 to prevent damage to the movement?
