Looking for some advice/Info. I find myself drawn to enamel dials, especially cushion cased watches with enamel dials, even thought they all seem to be sub 33mm. Not exactly sure why other then simply the aesthetics. From the looks of it enamel dials are all from the early part of the 1900s up to the 1940s? Every now and then I see a modern watch with enamel dial that is going for some outrageous price. Could some experts chime in and explain why enamel dials are not used as much? Does it have anything to do with cost of production, or durability, etc? When looking for one is there anything to look out for or pay special attention to? Can you repaint an enamel dial? ( I know that might be a dumb question) Any advice or experience would be appreciated, and if you have something for sale let me know as well.

    Thanks

    Pete

Thanks, more specifically I like just the plain white dials, the Cloisonné dials are too extravagant for me.

Look up Grand Feu on google and you will get an idea of why this is an expensive process. The RGM site has good info as does the first article.

My new Grand Feu RGM ... These dials have a depth to them and play with light in interesting ways. It's nice to see them being produced again. image.jpeg image.jpeg

Not specifically addressing your query, but here are few of my enamel-dialed Omegas from the early 20th C.

I think I saw one listed for sale the other day. Nice looking watch but I think it was around $1700 or so.
