Two years ago, I gave my son my 42mm, Orange bezel Planet Ocean for Christmas. I have a BLNR that is my daily. I miss having an Omega. I went to the AD yesterday and tried a couple on. I tried a blue and a black 43.5mm Planet Oceans. They seem really big. I have a big wrist, 7.25”. They’re very bulky though. I then tried on the black 41mm SM Diver 300. That is a very nice watch! Really comfortable! How does the 2500 movement compare for reliability with the 8900? Also, how is the lume on the Diver? A lume shot would be appreciated.
I then tried on a 42mm black bezel Planet Ocean with the 8500 movement. I do prefer that size. The only downfall of that is it would be nice to have the ceramic bezel. I do think I could get a good deal on it though.
Between the Diver and the 42mm PO, what would you choose?

Thanks! That’s a great photo. I was looking for the Diver though.

Just to let you know, the 42mm PO 8500 does have a ceramic bezel (as long as it’s not orange).

I’m biased, but I’d pick the PO. Here’s the lume on my recently sold PO 8500. I miss it already.... (but 45.5mm is just too big!)

Btw, the blnr is my grail Watch. I’ll get there someday! I hope ::shy::

I'm partial to the (more modestly sized) 2500 variant.

I also went shopping for new Omega diver recently, and I was leaning toward the new Seamaster 300 with the Master Chronometer movement. But it was too thick and didn’t fit my wrist well. Same with the new Planet Oceans, although I like the style. I finally tried on the 300m Pro and it was perfect. So I bought it.

Although my opinion is likely biased, I say go for the 300m Pro since you like the way it fits more. The 2500D co-axial is a pretty solid movement. I haven’t found any consistent reports that it is bad, unlike the first iteration. The lume isn’t as good as the Planet Ocean or the Seamaster 300, it it is perfectly adequate when I wake at 3 am and wonder what time it is.

The lume is good around the dial but the hands aren't as pronounced. Regardless, I wear mine at night and don't have a problem telling time with it. Thing is, I still find this watch to be stunning in the daylight. Perfect size and a bracelet more comfortable than my Speedmaster Professional.

I'm wearing my diver 300 as I type this. It is large for me, but extremely comfortable. Some don't like the bracelet, but it is one of my favorites. I added the PO adjustable clasp to mine to help with regulating how tight it gets. I have the black and the dial is awesome.

    Get it.

Hi Oddboy, what is that case diameter of that one? The more moderately sized ones are the way to go. 38mm may be the perfect size.

Well, all the enabling helped, (or hurt....). I found this and barring any transaction glitches, should be in the stable by next week. This is the pic from the seller. BNIB I'm very pleased. This is the size I like and I'll have an Omega again!!! Planet Ocean.jpg

I have a bit of a confession. I’ve been looking at SMPcs a lot lately and I now really like them (especially blue). I might actually buy one... so I guess now I’d go for an SMP.

But still can’t go wrong with either. That PO looks sharp. Hope to see it on your wrist soon

I think it will be here Monday. It cleared customs this afternoon. :)
I always liked the orange bezelled watch I gave to my son but I think I’m going to like this one better. It’s a bit more subtle yet still has that splash of orange. The Diver 300 is a gorgeous watch. I just like that the PO is different. The Diver is a bit more traditional. It’s going to be a long weekend of waiting........:whistling:
