To all the enablers on the Omega Message board - Thank You! There are too many to list.... But for this thread a special thanks to @repoman and @oddboy. I am now the proud owner of the Speeyiorite. And now thanks to all you enablers, I have the top three Limited Editions.
Boom! Trifecta. Congrats Bernard, I really think the Apollo-Soyuz is the crown jewel, but there are many more worthy LE's still out there
That's a great set! Congrats on landing the speedyorite too! Edit: next one, white gold LE of 500 pieces!
Very nice addition. If you have to have three Speedmaster these are great choices. Really, really love the blue dial Gemini 4 piece. Enjoy!
Like. I've had a couple of "mission patch" Speedys, as well as a "Moon to Mars", but the printed dial is underwhelming, and I don't think I'll be happy even with the original "Snoopy Award" or "Apollo 13". OP: I think the really different dials are the way to go
What about this LE. 35th Anniversary of Apollo 15 in 1971. Released in 2006, one year after the Gemini IV watch. Mid 2000s Omega were on a roll!
I'm on the fence with the Apollo 15, 35th. I really need to see it in real life before making judgment. Would love to know what others think are the top 5 LEs?
When I saw it, it was on the wrist of astronaut Dave Scott so that probably made it even better but it is a stunningly beautiful watch in person.
TOP5? Hmmm 1 - Apollo 11 "Mission Patch", 2 - Apollo 13 "Mission Patch", 3 - Speedyorite, 4 - Snoopy1, 5 - Alaska, ... whooh there are so many more!?! Apollo 11 "45th anni", Apollo 11 "20th anni", all "Mission Patches", all anniversary Speedys ... aaaa help! BR Hans PS: Thats quite subjective ;-) , but: the Pandas did not move me at all *sorry
For some reason the 35th anniversary Apollo 15 does not seem to be that popular. I have one and think its a really great watch and imo more appealing than some of the other LE's.
I am discovering that I really need to look at many of the other Professional LEs to make my top 5 list. It is one thing to see it on the computer, it is another when it is actually on the wrist. So for now, this is my list. With my favorite being the Gemini4.
#1 and #2 are still the original Soyuz and BA145.022 in the LE stakes imo but there are so many interesting ones especially in the 2000s when Omega started to cut loose with the designs rather than just inscribing something on the caseback.
My take on the limited editions ...........well they may even be more limited than the originals hahaha and the genuine Apollo 15
I must say this one has my attention. Would have never given it a second look (actually even a first) but thanks to you enablers posting pics I am going to take a look. Very cool.
Its a hard Speedmaster to photograph and really needs to be tried on before you buy. I really like it but I've seen some take a long time to sell on forums or ebay
