    I'm a bit stumped that with all the attention to detail on my new 3572.50 that the etched omega logo in the center is on an angle towards 8:00. Seems some people have them upside down. Why would Omega not have it aligned along with all the other aligned details?

    It's so hard to notice in daily wear the extra time to perfectly align one is not really worth it.

    Because they, and most others, don't care. When installing a crystal I always align it, but that's me, and I know my customers. :)

    At first I just thought it was supposed to be an Easter Egg so take it for what it is. But, I think the misalignment degrades the workmanship a bit.
    Now, I need to see how the backside writing is aligned :)

    No, they use that to indicate the time it was installed. It demonstrates significant attention to detail! :D

    the big "R" cares where they put their crown on the crystal ... ;)

    ::stirthepot::

    they even tell you if the crystal is original or a service replacement ...

    No, he's not serious but wouldn't it be great if it was accurate? What a great story. Even better than "R".
    Of course, if we wanted to start a new "rumour" this would seem the best place to do it.

    The REAL reason the symbol is not aligned is because these crystals are also used in watches with helium escape valves. In those watches, at the factory when they're made, the upward pressure of the helium on the crystal causes the crystal to naturally rotate and settle into microscopic alignment notches. Since the Speedmaster doesn't have any helium, there's no automatic crystal rotation. Please click here to read about helium in watches.

    I've actually had someone ask if his PO needed more helium. Bless his heart, I took the time to explain exactly what a HEV is for (i.e. None of us).

    The problem is the loupe you have. Stop using a loupe (10x ? ) and switch to a 4x and everything will be better.

    Reasons you are the best, Al.

    Viewing full sized image and a little zooming and you should be able to see Al's perfectly aligned logo:D

    Or just do nothing... Most blemishes on my watches mysteriously disappeared over the past 10 years ... Getting older also has its benefits... ::psy::

    Funny, as I was looking at my speedmaster bezel after reading a thread a while back and couldn't even find the 90 let alone where the friggen dot was ( with my reading glasses on )

    When I get a watch in where the crystal isn't aligned, I now have to decide if I should remove and align it, even if I have no other reason to remove the crystal...::censored::
