The FT has published this article on 8 sports watches for 2021. I would choose the Zenith, then the Omega. I find the other to be over the top. https://www.ft.com/content/55d33cf0-748d-47e6-b996-9c24a64bdcef
Good article. Gotta love that Richard Mille .... Agree that the Zenith Chronomaster Sport shows well in this group... M
I've always liked the Longines HydroConquest, but boy do I wish they had a no-date version. The small date completely throws off the watch IMO; a nice big "3" would look great.
I see what you mean. I agree. That dinky date throws the proportion completely off... It is otherwise a good looking watch, but would definitely be improved with removal of the date. Still love that RM ... wonderfully obnoxious...
The RM is a visual abomination. IMO, of course. Differing opinions are just as valid. Zenith and Longines look great, especially with the Longines price tag.
Ha! How funny. I think it is quite fun... However, at 210,000 quid, I don't think either of us need to worry about seriously debating that "sports" watch.... Best! M
Could have included the JLC Reverso for polo play, it’s a more legit use case than the regatta watches no sailor would wear
Man, one day I'm going to deeply regret not owning one of the Octo Finissimo S Chronograph GMT; for my money, that's among the most innovative, forward-looking, timepieces of the past decade (while still being vintage-adjacent). Meanwhile, I'm glancing toward the corner where I keep my soapbox about that Zenith Chronomaster Sport and it's weird 1/10th second center chrono on a regular production watch. On the up-side, it appears to have taken the place of a Daytona on this list...
I could put up with the imbalance of the Longines long before I could look at the really homely rest. (Zenith excluded).
Louis Vuitton Tambour Street Diver - Diver's scale but no center second. Huh? The movement looks to be a ladies size. Impressive (sarcasm)
To each their own: the world’s thinnest chronograph and GMT that looks this good is A-O-K by me (just not at MSRP )
The Longines, the Zenith, and the Omega are the only three I would ever wear. The Piaget, the Richard Mille, and the Hublot are all barely legible, the Richard Mille is especially difficult to make out.
When you have enough $$ to be sporting a RM, you don’t need to be able to tell the time... You have your bodyguard for that....
Nice to see the Hydroconquest get a little love for a change. Back when travel was still a weekly occurrence I tried the Octo GMT on at an airport (sadly not a chance at affording it!)... was just fantastic.
