    Hard to say much based on just this photo, but I have seen original dials like this before (can't say if this one is original though).

    Movement could be 28x, 370/71 or even 420, all were hand wind center seconds made when this case style was current, probably very late 40s to mid/late 50s.

    Based on the proportions of the watch, my educated guess would be cal 420 (smaller diameter movement than the others), possibly a ref 2690 or 2650.

    Appreciate your thoughts, as per my op it was something I knew absolutely nothing about. I now have some idea as to what it might be.
