I bought the 105.012 for £4.2k a few weeks ago. Snipe bid. Not really bothered if others think I paid too much, its what it is worth to me. I agree ursmidur is a frequent bidder....but people on this forum know who he is and that he buys and sells watches. His maximum bids seem to be what others on this forum seem to deem appropriate for the watches being offered, there are many other bids after his that drive up the price. Maybe there is a conspiracy but I've not seen any firm evidence to support it yet ( fingers crossed I'm not wrong ). I suspect some of these bids are from people like me...right time, right place etc. If anyone has a really nice transitional 145.022 to sell me at speedmaster101 prices let me know!!!!....otherwise I'll have to pay eBay prices!

I have done business with Albert and find him to be a real "stand-up" watch guy.

Done....some faults but facets of CB case quite crisp ( wanted a birth year 65 watch but love the CB case so decided i'll be 1 year younger! )

interesting, beauty in the eye of beholder perhaps :) Amazed at the new price points but these watches are much more difficult to find in the wild than before. Market will decide values.

Know who the seller is, been sensing something fishy for awhile, but this is the first I've heard of a prior discussion about it. Would be helpful to know where to read up - anyone? Happy to take a PM.

No problem with bidding fair prices but gets tricky since a business relationship may exist between both.

We all know exactly what is going on here, and who is doing it. The problem is that without legal proof we cannot name names. The only answer is to avoid the people concerned.

I just called about the 2998-5 mentioned earlier and it does in fact have #6 end-links. I also found this little morsel :)

If somebody wants eyes on the 2998-5 I only live a few blocks away. I would not be surprised at some touch ups, though. Not accusing, just some familiarity.

Yes, this is most probably shill bidding but not in the way you think. It happens in the art industry as well. Other dealers bid up each other to increase market prices. I see it all the time. Any dealer bidding offering max price way before end of auction does not want the object, they know that's not how you really win an auction.
