A simple question. On which hand did he wear the Speedie for the spacewalk?

Will explain why once answer is established!

Exactly. So I went to the Omega Moon exhibit this evening....private guest view at the Met. And this is hanging...printed by Polaroid for the show...

so I checked it with the Hasselblad original 1969 official marketing 2B6E0871-4507-4F30-9871-50F12CFBC74B.jpeg print in my collection here...

    Spot the difference?

The US flag is worn on the LEFT shoulder. The first pic @gemini4 is flipped as the flag is all wrong. Watch should be on left hand.

I would have thought Hasselblad in their own promo stuff from the time would have got it right. So which is it? Ed White spacesuit from period shows flag on Right shoulder.

Strange...it looks like the US National Ensign can be worn on the right shoulder as well [see pic below]...but you are correct, the US National Ensign is all wrong in the pic that you specified...the stars are not in the correct position. Below is a pic of the Apollo 1 crew with the US National Ensign on the right shoulder...with the stars in the correct position.

Good catch. The flag doesn’t have a mirror symmetry.

Well...now I’m not sure what’s going on...since I posted that, I started Googling more and found some info regarding how the stars should be in the upper right hand corner if the US National Ensign is worn on the right shoulder of a US military uniform...but NASA isn’t the military...heck, I dunno...I think I’ll just go to Dunkin’ [or Hooters] and call it a day.

I guess NASA "corrected" it in later missions :)

Gemini IV Ed White during walkout, clearly wearing two Omega Speedmaster chronographs on his left forearm...
Note his shiny visor on the helmet and the fact that McDivitt also wore two Speedmaster chronographs, one on each wrist...
So on Gemini IV a total of 4 Omega Speedmaster chronographs were exposed to outer space...

Gemini IV crew were the first to wear an American flag on their spacesuit and Gemini V were the first to wear their mission logo on the spacesuit

It doesn't matter if the flag is on a military uniform, an astronaut's uniform, or a Girl Guide's uniform.

The stars of the US flag are on the superior position of the flag, that side which is against the flag pole or staff.

Therefore, whenever the flag patch is worn on any uniform, the stars must face forward, signifying always advancing, never retreating.

Therefore those NASA astronauts were committing a grave error and should have been chastised for not rejecting the suits.

Hell, I'm an Aussie and even I know that!

Due to a long "social night" discussion with a party of USAF troops who explained the whole flag thing to me, over and over again, because one of them had a stubby cooler with the flag on it, and every time he got another beer one of them would say "Hey, do you know why.............".

It was a very long night and I was very tired the next day and I think one of them may have given me the flu I was so sick.

So by just looking at the flag is not going to help it seems...
However are the spacesuits considered to be Military?
