Just took this off of EBay. Surprised to see it lasted even 10 minutes. This straight lug Ed White 105.003-65 looks all original and should clean up very nicely. Dial is correct and is dirty but I think it can be cleaned up. DON bezel is in good shape. original hands. Crystal is scratched but has the Omega emblem. As often happens, I'll bet the watch is better looking then the eBay pics. Case looks unpolished. No evidence of hour creep. Dirty dial seems to be mostly disintegrated lume. Off to the spa!! No service markings on the caseback Original magnetic cover looks untouched. Could be super shiney as it hasn't been exposed to air in 50 years! Original flat feet crown!! Looks like a lot of crud between the crystal and the bezel. Should be cleanable. I'm excited. Opinions please
Another Speedie?? Didn't you have enough of them from Japan? Your avatar sub-title should read "Notorius and Extreme Hoarder of Speedies" Congrats on a good catch! That one will renovate nicely.
I saw that and passed on it. I don't have enough experience to know if that crumbled lume would clean up. Really looking forward to post-spa pictures.
Dt! @gemini4 Leave some meat on the bones! Nice find, and if you feel like you don't want another one....Dibs!
Hhhhmmm.................does anyone actually store their expensive vintage watches in barns any more? Is not 'sock drawer find' a more suitable contemporary term? Yeah........will be interesting to see how it cleans up for sure.
Well I think it is the right price, a little cheap, yes, but the dial is always going to hold it back value wise. Or to put it another way, am I cross to have missed it? Yes. Well done!
Absolutely, this dial will hold this watch to no more than "Running" plus on the Speedmaster101.com price list, which is fine. Of course a nicer dial would greatly improve the piece. When I first spotted this watch my first thought was, I like it. My second thought was I had better hurry because @Spacefruit, in the UK, will be waking up soon and this watch is right up his alley.
Just be careful the seller is legit, so many scammers dudding people with cheap 321 Speedmasters atm.
Sorry for the delay. Not the prettiest but it does appear to be an all original Ed White. Perhaps a bit of reluming is in order as the plot have seen better days. As winter has finally arrived in New York (11F right now), plenty of time to get to the projects. Mechanically, watch appears ok. I am open to trades for a 1975 Soyuz however
actually, the ebay pics. are better.....I thought about this one as well. decided to give it a miss because of the dial. but....should have bought it, I guess. kind regards. achim
