Just purchased this Ed White today. Notice that the dial lacks the "T Swiss Made T" tritium indications. Therefore, does not appear to be proper Ed White dial as Ed Whites were tritium dials. However, it has the applied logo, recessed sub dials, appropriate patina, correct script, etc., so I doubt it's one of the later 90's version without the tritium "T" markings.

    Questions for you experts:

    1. Is this a CK2998 dial?
    2. Did Omega ever use CK2998 dials on Ed Whites?
    3. If it is a CK2998 dial, is it more or less valuable?
    4. Should the dial have the race track border around the minute indicators?
    5. Open for general candid criticisms, etc.
    6. Estimated value?

Haven't we seen this one before on here with the blurred pics of the back? Why is it blurred?

Value is what you just paid for it.

Interestingly that acc. the extract this watch, or better the serial, was delivered to the UK. Whereas the bridge as the OXG stamp, which is normaly only used for US market watches. Dial and hands are relumed or aged new replacement parts. Maybe the caseback has an engraving and that's the reason why ist blurred.

    I remember this watch.
It was actually sold via ebay germany 4 weeks ago.
then popped up again offered by a spanish seller.

the first seller clearly stated in his listing that the dial is a service dial which became aged.
I think he stated that the hands were replaced as well.

The question is...did the Spanish seller disclose that, and what did the OP pay for this gem...

Thanks. How can you tell the dial and hands are relumed or aged new? I did notice the second hand has the proper spear end.

    thats the spanish listing

"Omega Speedmaster 105.003-65 Ed. White Cal.321
It works perfectly, hours and needles still shine at night, just revised and I send too a certificate of authenticity by Omega. The dial must be changed at the begining of 90'.There is an inscription on the back made by the first owner (K.Knight and some numbers)"

Photos are dodgy at best. Color saturation and orientations are questionable. It would appear that the photographer was attempting to achieve a desired result rather than an honest portrayal.

Looks like they scraped the lumi and added a slug track of aged lume or baked it, one of the two.

Not a step dial and clearly a service dial that has been doctored.

OP was this watch sold to you as a correct period dial or an aged service dial?

Based on what it appears to be, the value is for the sum of the parts.

Well I hope that Watchknut is correct that the value is what I paid for it... getting a bad feeling here. My first Speedmaster purchase after 2 years of searching Seller indicated he thought dial was from 90s. No mention on replacement hands. Also had 100% positive in Ebay.

I am looking at MWO right now and that was the question I was trying to research.

Unless I'm mistaken MWO indicates that Watchknut is correct. It should be a step dial.

the sellers says nothing about the hands; but it appears to me that the chrono second is slightly too short.
but its impossible to evaluate that detail without proper pics

If you looked for 2 years and paid $10k for that...

Why don't people just buy on here instead of trying to get a "deal" on their own.

    Still boggles my mind.
