We just got done enjoying the eclipse here in Oregon. I'm just outside the total eclipse area and had 99% totality (according to NASA).

As the event moves across the world, I thought we could have a place to share any photos we take along the way. I'm certain mine are not the greatest but I thought I would share. I hope others do to!

I picked the Moonphase as an appropriate watch to wear:

A decent view of Bailey Beads unfiltered as the eclipse amps up:

A few pics of the eclipse as it moves from partial to (almost total) taken through a filter:

And we're all wrapped up here on the Pacific Coast:

I would love to see any photos taken by anyone else!

I could not find the piece of welding glass I know I have kicking around here somewhere, so just using a pair of binoculars, a sheet of card stock, and my iPhone, this is all I've got to show...

We were well outside totality, so only about 75% or so. Outside it was still quite sunny, but a bit dimmer. I took some photos to try to show the difference, but it's so small the photos kinda look the same.

Here in New Jersey we got dark clouds roll in just as the eclipse was nearing it's maximum. :( What bad luck. I saw the one in '79 at least.

What I remember about the last one I saw was how it got noticeably colder - goes to show how much the sun warms us even when we don't realise it.

Only at 87% in Chicago .. overcast but sun broke through enough to watch the progression. Birds and bees totally disappeared though.

Maybe you're already aware Al, but you get a total eclipse in 2024 in your area. I'll be at 97%, but as you know, it's just a short drive south for me to reach 100%

Appropriate watch for the day :)

    p1_IMG_2215_mods.jpg

I set up a telescope on the roof of the parking structure next to my office building...
    p2_IMG_2213_mods.jpg

Co-workers gathered for a look near the time of local maximum (62.6% of total eclipse)
    p4_IMG_2229_mods.jpg

A through-the-eyepiece, cell phone shot about 1-hr after local maximum; those are sun spots in the centre of the disc.

I brought my welding hood to work today and luckily the maximum eclipse here occurred during my planning period so I was able to go out and see an 80% eclipse. I didn't think to try and take a photo with my cell.

Only got about 85% here. Couldn't get any decent photos through the glasses, so......
