The description seems accurate? Homemade watch, All parts from OFrei, except 1969 movement?

It has a service case and dial, just like a Watchco. Looks alright, but expensive.

The service case has a different case number than the original , 166.0324.

I guess I have never seen such a clear picture of the print inside the caseback. Just looked funky.

Your "dust" in the centre is the Omega logo on the crystal.

Service case and dial, but with NOS 166.024 back. Price is way too high. Comparable to a Watchco. The dust is a bonus ;)

Just to clarify, the original vintage case reference stamped inside the watch would have been 166.324. As with many vintage Omega references, the extra 0 was added, so the new form reference number is 166.0324.

But as I have said a few times here, these 6 or 7 numbers everyone quotes are only partial references. If I was to order a full case from Omega using just those 6 or 7 numbers is not enough information. The full part number for this is 055ST1660324 as you see in this case back.

    So to break it down:

055 states that the part number following is for a case. There are many other material codes, so 069 is for a crown, 722 is movement part, etc.

ST calls out the material - in this case stainless steel. If this was 055BA1660324 it would be a solid 18k yellow gold Seamaster case. Now there isn't a solid gold SM300 case, but for many cases they are available in all kinds of different materials - plated, capped, solid gold, and in different colours and grades of gold. So BD is 14kt solid yellow gold, BC is 18 kt solid white gold, CD is 14kt yellow gold cap - you get the picture.

1660324 is now the remainder of the part number that actually tells you which case style it is.

So what you see here is just a modern replacement case - nothing strange about it at all.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers, Al

Do you know why they used another number for the new case, Al? The original SM300 was 166.024 while the new one is 166.0324.

Sorry you are right - the original was 166024, which then became 1660024. Then the more modern replacement was 1660324.

I have no idea why they use a 3 in this particular instance. It's the only replacement case I'm aware of that they stuck a 3 in for some reason. Most replacement just use the format with the extra 0 added in.

I think another possible reason is it's also the replacement for the 165.024 as well.

exacly. I don't know the reason why they ad the 3... I can't see the price. I just know the price of these cases have rocketted in just 2 years. from 700 euros to 1500 euros now....
I can make you one for 200 euros wo steel bracelet or so.
I casn see anything wrong with the watch shown in your pictures.
