Saw this speedy on eBay. Seemed like a possible good but as it was at $3000 when I saw it. It's jumped up to almost 5K now. This a 105.012 or 145.012 (possible it's a transitional?). Case looks good and unpolished with a nice original crown and DON.

    Look at this on eBay:

    It looks like a 145.012 probably, unless it's a 105.012 with its pushers replaced; or a 145.022-68 with a drop-end chrono needle.

I made an offer on it almost immediately, but by the time I heard back the bidding had already eclipsed it! The cat got out of the bag crazy fast on this one.

I wonder what that caseback inscription is?

Last I saw it was at $5850 before it was pulled. Anyone know what the bidding was up to? Must have received a hell of an offer - I would think this one wouldn't go for much over $6 without movement shots etc.

It was a really nice example, so I'm not surprised by this.

That said, it's becoming so tough to actually see nice examples get across the finish line on eBay. Like the old saying in baseball...if you're not cheating, you're not trying. Sad, but it is what it is.

Seems to be getting that way more and more recently. The nice ones just don't get left to run.

Even 12 months ago, 321 Speedmasters came up on no reserve auction reasonably frequently and were left to run. Not now!!

Well it's one of those hot watches at the moment. Who knows what's gonna be next... Maybe dress watches ?
