C4D10E42-20ED-442A-8203-9D2E272CAC72.png Personally i think its hooky, especially the case, which looks very similar to the fake cases thet Desmond wrote an essay about

Desmond also noted that onyx filled baton markers should not have printed minute markers at these hour markers - pls see picture below

    This one does have

What do the real experts say though

This is why I stay away from Constellations. The amount of minutiae that a knowledgeable buyer must have at his fingertips seems insurmountable. It’s why I’ve asked if there’s any good reference book on them. Have yet to hear back.

Lugs and case that sharp on a dog leg pie pan is why.

However on close inspection, something is sketchy.

Comparing it with my own dog leg case, I'm not sure if it's variation, but there's a small gap between the case and the lugs on mine. This one looks fused together.

Dial is a real thing. Hands are correct. The onyx insert markers are real, too.
But I don't know what is wrong with the lugs and how can he fit a 19mm in there?

    HI @hoipolloi

If you look close at the lugs , looks like he "squeezed" the strap in there... .you can see the swelling of the strap ends by the lug... its sppears to be bulging...

Price seems a bit crazy, but that's how auctions sometime go.

Yeah, plus usually the lug goes over the top part of the case as well. This one is fused to the bottom.

Unless there's some variation I have a feeling this case is fugazzi.

This one is my not as sharp dog leg:

It sucks cause the reason it probably sold that much is the sharp dog leg lug case in the first place...

What I don't understand it the ones from Japan on bracelets, they seem really under priced at barely over a grand for dog leg pie pans in generally decent condition.. I wish I had a grand laying around, I KNOW that price won't last.

I was watching this before @khanmu posted on 'recommended"
I didn't recommend it because of the seller - doesn't mean to say the watch is any the less of a decent Connie

I don't think there is anything wrong with the case
doglegs must be the most difficult watch to photograph - a sharp one looks soft and reflections make the case look shonky.
I've just been studying mine and the OP lugs sit in the right place for a SS body - just tucked under the lower half of the bezel
( your's is capped, the lugs are quite a bit different to the SS lugs (no facets, layer of gold etc.) - so may appear to sit slightly higher)

a strong price for this watch but price aside I think the buyer can be happy with their purchase.

My SS for ref. (Which is quite sharp but looks crap in photos. )

Hi Peemacgee, Does he perlaging on the inner case back of your watch also look similar to the OPs?

To me, ebay listing looks very similar to the fake example in Desmonds write up

perlage can vary - and lighting can make a difference to how it looks

mine - but later 564 (before service)
I don't have a pic to hand of my 561 dogleg caseback

auction watch - second pic doesn't look as odd as the first

Not that I'm anything but a novice, but in comparing those pictures, on your caseback picture the Omega symbol has the little "hook up" on the feet, whereas the auction watch caseback symbol does not. The "SGR" symbol on yours is much more close together and compact as well.

That’s why I mentioned mine was a later version.
If anyone has a 561 version please feel free to chip in.

The box is wrong, but the papers are a nice touch.

FWIW, this is not a very sought after reference. Worn gold cap + dome dial ought to mean a low price...
