eBay offering "expert verification" on $1000-$2000 watches

We're all at least passingly familiar with ebay's "authentication service" as it's been discussed here a couple of times.

I just got a notification in my account that buyers of watches between $1000-$2000US now have the option of buying the authentication service for an additional price of $80. I have no idea whether this is something sellers could disable on their end.
