Any thoughts here on this watch? I like it but no sense of its authenticity. Here’s the auction link: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/114096111143 Thanks
OMG I just looked at the listing. The back says WWW. It’s a total fake. There is no Zenith dirty dozen.
I would call it a partial fake. Cal 120-T first mfg in 1961. A 12-4-P would be more likely from back then. Everything is correct except the WWW and the dial.
There has been a thread running about this monstrosity on MWR.... https://www.mwrforum.net/forums/showthread.php?88352-Strange-Zenith-Military-watch
Here’s a Zenith Sporto that was on Catawiki. Case and movement numbers are very close https://www.catawiki.com/l/21621799-zenith-sporto-calibre-120-t-1962-men-1960-1969
I’m in my rookie year here on OF and yet still I thought it was a Frankenwatch. Thanks for confirmation!
it’s not a franken which usually implies put together from many different parts but it’s been stamped and partially/totally redialed to resemble something it’s not. Take away the WWW and arrow and it’s a legit Zenith with a horrible redial.
I checked this watch few days ago and in my opinion it is not original... With that i mean that it has some fake part... it is just not worth it!
Thought I will add a group picture of type 20, 21 I was taking this weekend so people will be careful.
The seller knew full well it was not a military watch. Sneakily, he listed it initially as a BIN with an even crazier price in order to set in (foolish) punters minds what it was 'worth' then withdrew it and put it to auction. His dastardly plan worked a treat. It's a disgrace, the seller is a disgrace.
Guess the buyer wised up. It’s relisted now on eBay for nearly two thousand bucks. Hahaha! https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/114111498050
