Would any of you knowledgeable gentlemen be able to point me to a few listings of fairly priced vintage Omega's currently on ebay? I'm looking to buy my first Omega (Seamaster, Deville, Constellation or Genieve), and this certainly seems like the right place to steer me correct on this purchase. I don't like anything gold-colored, so just silver, black or white, please. Looking to spend about $300-700.

I have a few listings being watched now, to give you an idea of what I have in mind:

    Thanks!

There's a thread titled "Recommended Vintag Omega on eBay". It's a sticky at the top of this very forum.

Dennis has steered you in the right direction to get the info you seek, but in the meantime, I will say that eBay seller holbensfinewatches has had very positive feedback by members of another watch forum that I'm on. I myself have no personal experience of Holben, but he was very well regarded as a straight dealer by the guys there.

As to the particulars of the watches themselves, there are many on this forum more qualified than me to comment.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

I haven't dealt with this dealer, but I see his listings frequently. His narrative and photos give you most info you'll need. I think of this dealer as a provider for the end-user, not the flipper who's watches come and go. This dealer seems to get top dollar for his examples. Probably testament to his reputation!

Mostly to his photography IMO. As a seller, he is not averse to redials, although he usually makes note of the fact discreetly in the description.

When it was listed as item 310704365157, it had 104 bids for $623.

Why the re-list, I have no idea...

And would that watch be worth $625, in your opinion?

Yes, when you consider two people wanted it. Looks to be in nice shape, but not the nearly new old stock many Omega collectors prefer. It's in excellent end-user condition, especially since it was serviced.

Now PERSONALLY speaking, I would prefer the larger Cosmic (don't know the reference but it uses TOOL 107 per the back of the case and measures 35mm). I own a reference like this (seller photo) and I will say it's one of those watches that wears bigger than it measures.

Clarification: mine is the smaller 33mm model in the photo above.

I can't seem to get my thoughts clarified!

I paid less than $300 for mine. I wouldn't personally pay over twice that, even with a more interesting dial and a fresh warranted service. But I know myself and I know I'll get bored with my example and sell it.

If you're going to keep it, you're looking at a very nice example (unusual dial, nice condition and serviced). As a keeper for wearing and enjoying, it is just the example you should look for. As for return on investment, I have my doubts...

    Just one opinion...everyone has one!
