Almost 30k OBO. Seems high for what looks like replacement sundials, hour, minutes, and seconds hands. Oh and that dial...

You know I remember @LouS buying his really really nice one for $7k and people thinking at the time man, LouS really overpaid on that thing in 2013 or so but that was a steal considering the quality of it.

And in 2013!? That was like yesterday in the grand scheme of things.

Oops, should read "replacement subdial hands" autocorrect and Tapatalk are not working with me. To me they look brand new

And I thought the dial should have the "T" on either side of "Swiss made" is that not correct for this reference? They are missing on the dial in the listing.

Look up watches of knightsbridge auction from Saturday - I'm pretty sure there was one est at 25-30000 that didn't attract a bid, was passed and looked pretty good. I'm sure a few cheeky phone calls could do a deal.

I won't comment on the price but I think you need to do more research on this model before flaming an example.

Noted. I didn't get the impression that trying to establish a dialogue about the value of a watch, no matter how much or how little one may be informed, was taboo around here. I appreciate you bringing my error in tact to my attention though.

Im sure he meant SUBDIAL, not SUNDIAL. Autocorrect does that if he is on mobile... He is correct on the replacement subdial and chrono seconds hand. The dial looks good to me.

The dial has been retouched, poorly.

    What gives it away?

    From the sellers page:

"Dial is original and correct tritium, SWISS MADE only with nice patina on all plots and original Alpha hands. Some minor aging on dial but overall in excellent condition. No relume, no refinish of the dial. "

The lume is lumpy and uneven. It isn't straight in places. It crosses over the plots in places. The hands also look relumed as they match the plots precisely, and there is no degradation of the lume in the hands, no places missing lume.

Entirely possible ... apparently, I'm old and forget things (so I'm told ... at least I think I was told, I forget). I was only watching on my phone while waiting for a different lot but was amazed at the lack of interest in all the steel watches.

I think WOK misjudged the advantages of selling in the middle east.

I am sure you're right. I didn't see the whole auction as I was sitting in a restaurant, joining at around lot 60 and leaving at 162 but by my count, over 2/3rds of the tool watches failed to reach reserve. Those that did sell went one or two bids above that. The yellow gold ones went for mid estimates while the white gold were being fought over.

Now, I could be wrong. It may have been my impression rather than fact. There may even have been issues that were not obvious on a 6 inch screen ... but I almost wish I had been bidding for omegas instead of waiting for that one ... but I have the one I wanted winging it's way to me instead!
