Thoughts on the validity of this package/ad?

If it were valid how would you value such a package? Completeness, original boxes are a plus, condition of hands, chrono hour reset fault are minuses.

    Thanks in advance...

I don't need new in box to like a watch.
    But here?
A Box and Book?, with a Post Moon -71 does not impress me at all. Add to that well worn hands (rust on one), case wear, dents and dirt and staining inside; and I'm not impressed in the slightest. Or at least not US $5,999.99 impressed. Now add known service issues and I am looking for a bargain even to consider purchasing. Not enough here to even make an offer, or at least that is me.

Thank you for responding. So you would not value this piece past value for parts?

Well in my opinion this is a rough watch placed in a box from somewhere else and a booklet from a different watch (missing back page? How blatant is that)

It's a $1800/2000 watch if you like the look, I suppose a little premium if you are local to it. For goodness sake the thing looks shagged out and will need a full service.

It's a great wearable watch - which by the way is what I think we should all be buying for pleasure rather than a $5500 moon watch. Because this watch can be spanked around town with out causing any value loss.

The way the seller had cobbled the set together makes me think he is dishonest.

It is interesting that the price of this watch has dropped from BIN 5999.99 to 5499.99

An originally stamped Warranty is a real plus, but this one is not..

He has quickly dropped down to $4000 in my discussions with the seller.

Prices like $x,x99.99 always raise my suspicions.

Listen to @Spacefruit it looks like your using speedmaster101.com for pricing as you mentioned "for parts" as a price guide. That's his website.

It's a tired watch with bad hands. There are much better examples out there in the 3.5k range if you need a 71.

I'm definitely in the market for a -71. I'm being patient and trying to find the right one. Not so easy. The hunt continues...

Patience is not easy, but you have to do it. The right watch will find you.

Stick around they come up. Educate yourself on what makes a 71 a71 and how to grade them.

Another thing to be aware of a -71 may not have been made or sold in 71. If your looking for a birth year watch you will have to decide what is enough. -71 could have been sold through at least 74. Serial numbers are not sequential and only an extract from Omega can tell you that info. Personally I'm happy with a -76 for my birth year watch even though it may have been made in 77. I have a high serial number but the earlier dial. I could get the extract but why? I rather be in the dark.

Speedmaster101 was very helpful in learning this. I feel pretty well educated with regard to the various iterations of 145.022s
