For sale is a beautiful Rolex 1603 with no lume dial. Bamboo bezel and butterfly rotor.

    Age: ca. 1960

    Price: 3.495 euro

Dial: Very nice no lume dial showing patina. The dial has got the early 60ies vibe with beautiful markers.

Case: The watch has got a strong case with a bamboo bezel. These bamboo bezels have only been delivered on early 1603's. Innercaseback also stating 1960 and 1603.

Hands: No lume hands matching with dial.

Movement: Runs and winds smooth however service history unknown so no warranty on functioning. Movement has the butterfly rotor.

Bracelet: Jubilee (6251 with 55 endlinks) clasp code 67 in good condition. Picture shows maximum stretch.

Returns: No returns unless no authentic Rolex.

I believe that bezel style was also known as crenellated (little openings for the guns to stick out on the side of the fort); it was more common on earlier Datejusts like the 6605. Very nice!

The bezel you’re mentioning is a little different. Whereas the bamboo has clustered marks of 3 stripes (hard to explain especially since I’m not a native speaker) the 6605 bezel has higher parts and lower parts. The higher parts are glossy whereas the lower parts are ribbed:

Killer early DJ for this price? Sure it’s not a grey dial...but unless my mental pricing for these is way off, I’m confused as to how it’s still here.

I know it’s my own ad but I’m also flabbergasted it’s still here.. initially thought of asking €4000 instead of €3500.
