Bought this on a whim today. Thoughts on it please. Appears all original Inc strap. Running very well so far. Day and date changes smoothly. I have a NOS case for one of these. Debating whether to swap over. The dial is interesting and I hope genuine. Maybe forum members can confirm. They seem very good value for a 1970s design classic!
I honestly don't know if there should be "T"s on the dial but the examples I saw on-line had them. Also, the hands don't appear to be lumed which might be an issue in the dark.
That hand looked strangely familiar ... It's not the same, but the colour appears identical. There is something about that splash of colour ... to the point I had something made for this one ...
yes hands are lumed and still work faintly. The missing T has made me a bit suspicious now...hmmm Wonder if it is a redial?
shot showing lume... Should the day/date window have a frame? And there is quite a mash-up of fonts....
It looks OK to me, correct size hands with lume and a sunken date window with a crossbar between day/date (some didn't have it). The Dynamic range was huge and varied as far as dial styles went, and visible or missing Ts and SWISS MADE (there or not) there seemed to be almost at the whim of the dial maker. Maybe @SpikiSpikester could give you an expert opinion if he has time.
Fonts are normal. They're usually the quickest way to tell if it's a redial as they are incredibly difficult to replicate. The A's and the e's are generally the tells on a good redial. It doesn't look like a redial to me, not from these photos anyway. The bar in the date window is normal for the models between 1972 and 1976 that utilised cal 1022 as the movement. Not sure if there is any rhyme or reason as to whether T marks appeared on the dials. I've never seen any attempt to analyse that. I wouldn't worry about that as everything else looks ok & the appearance of T marks can be erratic or in many cases they are so faint that they can hardly be seen any more. Dial is a well known variant & possibly is still available as a service part. Maybe that would explain lack of T marks, but the dial has signs of older wear so I wouldn't assume it is a recent addition.
Thanks Spiki. All very reassuring. Must say the more I studied it the more it felt right...the brushing on metal of dial etc... Watch now lost to wife's wrist as she loves it and wants a white strap for it...hmmm. Not sure I can find one of those. Feedback as ever very valuable and emphasises what a great forum this is.
No problem, glad to help. BTW, I do have an Omega leather white strap from the early 70's which I have never used. It's not quite NOS but is fairly close and has no signs of wear. There is one small blemish on it at the end of the strap. As it's a Dynamic specific strap I can't use it for anything else & am happy to let it go to someone who will use it. Ping me a DM if you want to discuss
Sometimes this forum gets me cranky. But at other times, when I see a thread like this, the forum makes me all warm and fuzzy. Nice work Warren.
Update. Here she is ready for my wife on Valentine's Day! Thanks to a fellow forum member for the white...
