·On offer is a beautiful Dugena yachting chronograph from the mid-70s. In the 1960s and 1970s, Dugena shared space alongside premier watch-makers such as Heuer and Zenith, catering primarily to the German market in Swiss timepieces. Most of their watches are rebranded pieces employing cases and dials from other illustrious makers.
In this instance, the watch is in the same case (and with the same movement) employed by Yema for their famed Yachtingraf and Daytona models. This all stainless-steel case features a bold, sharp bezel and elegantly curved lugs, reminiscent of other sailing and racing watches from the early 1970s.
The panda dial is a stunner in sunburst silver with navy subdials. It features applied steel furniture with onyx inserts. The minute subdial has red accents typical of yachting chronos. Outer tachy dial is navy, inner minute markers are a lovely red. The result is an impressive wrist-presence.
At the heart is the classic Valjoux 7733, which is running strong and keeping good time. All chrono functions work perfectly, and the chrono sweep and minute reset precisely to zero.
Everything is original, untouched and unrestored (inc. original crown). The watch is in excellent condition, unpolished, with a flawless dial and bezel. Some light wear is apparent, mostly on the caseback (see pix). The tritium dots on the dial are nicely faded, as is typical of a watch of this age.
The watch comes on a new black or brown leather strap (at purchaser's preference). It is pictured here on a handmade strap constructed by Two Stitch Straps as a faithful reproduction of the Yema Rallygraf Super strap ( available for separate purchase).
This is a real beauty, and Dugena is a brand that is rapidly gaining a following among collectors. Here's a chance to own a "poor man's" Yema Yachtingraf at a fraction of the price they now command!
