HI OF! I sometimes stroll the bay for interesting "cheap" vintage chronos. I usually just searching for "valjoux" or "Landeron/lemania" etc. So yesterday I pulled the trigger on this one .... I saw the dial and I just had to have it! It screams funky 70's to me and if my little gamble plays out it looks like the inner dial is sunburst blue, the outer ring turned tropical and the tritium patina is just through the roof! And a Base 1000 tachyscale to top it all of! Panda nonetheless and I see so many similarities to other watches I like in this dial. And after all, Dugena has a little special place in my heart. After the Second World War they moved their facility's to Germany. Namely to Darmstadt, my home town where I grew up. The company's headquarters were right around my neighborhood and I remember this building from an early age on. Also my first "real" automatic wristwatch was a Dugena Diver, that I still own and love. Former Dugena headquarters in Darmstadt: It seems not many people are into Dugena, albeit their early vintage chronos command premium prices these days! But generally they can still be found considerably cheap, especially in Germany! I'd love to see pictures of other OF' members Dugenas, if there are any? Some more pictures of my watch, better ones will follow when it arrives next week . Cheers, Max
@morningtundra thank you! Anticipation is high to see this in the flesh . The wait is killing me haha. I think the case was originally sunburst, and the bezel polished. Maybe I will bring this back to original spec.
Its a great watch, a year ago i had a similar one with 7733. Almost same dial, but completly different case! Dugena ist still one of my favourite brands for affordable watches. These are my keepers: Greetings to Darmstadt from Berlin
Oh and a few more I let go over the years...some I regret selling, especially the never seen again Yachting View attachment 459949
Hi @JimJupiter ! I was hoping you would post some of your wonderful dugenas! To be honest your instagram posts of the Dugena chronos kind of tipped me over the edge to finally purchase one! Absolutely love the dugena/Heuer 1153! Stunning collection! It's Frankfurt by now but greetings back to Berlin . If you'r ever in the area let me know! I'm always up for a watch talk/beer! Do you know if original crystals are still floating around? Or if it's possible for a watchmaker to purchase service items from dugena? I also adore their skin diver models! The watertrip collection has some very sweet looking watches! Pics from the web: Let's see if some other OF'ers show some dugena love! Cheers, Max
Love the old Dugenas, not very common and still around for decent prices. So many "exotic" dials they came out with that look like great fun

I've been pretty enamored with these dugenas as well. Great dials and classic workhorse valjoux movements. One of my buddies just picked up this dugena regatta chronograph. Super interesting dial and traditional case. Too bad it'll be late Nov until it comes in from overseas.
It arrived! And it's dial is even more awesome than I expected it from the eBay sellers pictures! Case has a few dings and dents but hey, who cares! Bracelet is in super condition, 7912/1039 style extendable and adjustable clasp by "expandro" from Germany with a very positive lockup! Oh god the sunlight reflections are insane! So much fun and joy for so little money. I'm definitely hooked on vintage dugenas now haha. PICS!!
Nice catch, Max! The watch looks to be in great condition, and the adjustable bracelet makes it all the more sweeter. I have been seeing Dugenas put up for sale/auction recently. The designs especially the funky dials are appealing but I haven't pulled the trigger on any because I wasn't able to find much information on the brand. Appreciate the OF members sharing their photos and the (brief) company history
Thanks @Martinibianco ! I'd say go for it while they haven't cought up price wise to other chronographs from that era. There is indeed not very much info out there. Don't know if you speak German, but you could check out this thread on a German watch board for comparison of case styles, dials etc, lot's of pictures https://uhrforum.de/dugena-vintage-sammler-club-d-v-s-c-t45003 Nice to see more Dugenas here coming out of the woods @DeepBlue I just missed this one on eBay ... I was literally three minutes to late.. it sold at 20:48 I checked at 20:51... bad luck on this one. But look at it . https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.de/ulk/itm/173000462427 Cheers, Max
Looks like it @harrymai86 ! And seller didn't do his homework obviously, a real steal at this price. A heuer/dugena will catch way more on an open auction, let alone a NOS one. Trust me, when I saw that I was just minutes too late I nearly threw my phone out of the window haha. But hey, you win some you lose some right .
